Tools 4 Life Books Ministry
Originating in 2007, Tools 4 Life Books was established to develop and distribute Christ-centered books that teach life-skills and character education to at-risk youth. Since then, Tools 4 Life has grown into a non-profit ministry dedicated to the transformation of incarcerated male youth. Once the ministry receives referrals from Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, the Tools 4 Life staff conducts an extensive interview with both the youth and family/guardian to determine the need for a mentor and commitment from all parties. Approved youth then enter the Tools 4 Teens Mentoring Program, a program ultimately committed to long-term transformation through consistent love, trust, encouragement and discipleship. Tools 4 Life also identifies additional needs within the family unit and work in collaboration with Harris County Juvenile Probation to connect the family with services to meet those needs. Grace International Children’s Foundation (GICF)
GICF was established to provide loving, Christian homes for some of the 2.5 million orphaned and vulnerable children in the African country of Uganda, thereby giving them hope for a bright future. Just over 10 years ago, GICF built and began operating the Lulwanda Children’s Home in Eastern Uganda. Lulwanda is now home to 120 children from 3 to 17 years old, and provides jobs to 45 Ugandans. In addition to food and shelter, the children are given counseling to help them rise above their very difficult past, and an excellent education to equip them to be productive Ugandan citizens. They also attend Church every week, are discipled to grow their relationship with Jesus, and participate in Christian outreach to non-believers in their community. Supporting their belief that a strong community can be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors, the Y is a cause-driven organization focusing on youth development, healthy living & social responsibility.
