Community Connections

KSBJ’s Promotions and Outreach department strives to connect our community to the heart of God by raising awareness of initiatives that impact lives locally & globally. Relationships with various churches, ministries, non-profits, & businesses are an essential part of the ministry of KSBJ. Our Community Outreach team is passionate about coming alongside organizations who are dedicating their time & resources for the glory of God.

Ministry Spotlight: Mission Greenspoint

Mission Greenspoint was founded in 1997 through a partnership of two churches, Spring Memorial Baptist and Louetta Road Baptist Church. Greenspoint has been a depressed area of north Houston for many years, and Mission Greenspoint was founded to meet the needs of its residents. Three apartment churches were founded affording local residents a comfortable place to worship on Sundays. The mission center was established a year later to address the physical needs of their families. Worship services continued at the mission center soon afterwards.

Mission Greenspoint offers regular food and clothing assistance on a monthly basis. English as Second Language classes are offered annually for adults during the school year of Aldine ISD. Greenspoint Pregnancy Assistance Center assists new and expectant mothers with infant supplies as well as free ultrasounds for women up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. The goal of these ultrasounds is to inform these ladies of the life growing inside them and prayerfully prevent abortions of their precious infants.

Special events occur annually to offer additional benefits to the community including:

  • Project Right Start – provides free school supplies to 1,000 grade age children in Aldine ISD. Supplies are distributed the Saturday before the first day of school.
  • Thanksgiving Baskets – 500 families are provided a Thanksgiving Basket and a $10 gift card to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with their families in November.
  • The Christmas Store – 600 children receive 2 gifts for Christmas that are provided through generous donations of gifts and toys from area churches and businesses. Parents shop for gifts the Saturday before Christmas and return home with gift wrapped presents for Christmas morning.

The gospel is central to our ministry, and is offered freely to all who enter our doors. Many have come to Christ through the services offered at Mission Greenspoint!

Community Relationships

KSBJ is proud to work closely with the YMCA, one of Houston’s leading non-profit organizations committed to applying Christian principles into programs that build healthy spirit, mind, & body for all. Supporting their belief that a strong community can be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors, the Y is a cause-driven organization focusing on youth development, healthy living & social responsibility.
