Ministry Spotlight - Family Services of Greater Houston
Divorce is becoming an all too familiar occurrence in today’s society, however Family Services’ Houston Marriage Project offers couples effective ways to strengthen their relationships and avoid becoming part of the nation’s divorce statistics.
Since 2011, Family Services has been providing a variety of opportunities to help couples assess their relationship and gain tools to have a “Love Worth Fighting For”. The Houston Marriage Project offers couples a “menu” of options from which to choose. Offered in English and Spanish, couples can attend monthly workshops, mini-retreats, or an annual multicultural weekend retreat all designed to enrich and restore couple’s marriage commitment.
Family Services’ fun, interactive workshops are specialized and focus on the needs of premarital couples, married couples, or couples who are trying to save their marriages from ending in divorce. Whether interacting with the group, in a small group or privately with each other, couples are provided skills that will increase their respect and love for each other. Couples learn how unresolved issues can escalate into more serious problems and are taught to work through conflicts before they get out of hand. Participants also learn about themselves; how to listen and actually hear each other; how to develop realistic expectations; and other ways to safeguard their relationship.

KSBJ is proud to work closely with the YMCA, one of Houston’s leading non-profit organizations committed to applying Christian principles into programs that build healthy spirit, mind, & body for all. Supporting their belief that a strong community can be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health & our neighbors, the Y is a cause-driven organization focusing on youth development, healthy living & social responsibility.
