Nashville, Tenn., April 23, 2008 – The multi-Platinum selling rock band Switchfoot has recorded a new original song, “This Is Home,” for the highly anticipated Walt Disney Studios and Walden Media May 16 theatrical release, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The song will be featured during the end credits of the film, and will appear on the Original Walt Disney Records Soundtrack CD releasing on May 13.

Switchfoot recently taped a companion music video for “This Is Home” in Los Angeles with director Brandon Dickerson who filmed Switchfoot’s most recent video, “Awakening,” from its current, acclaimed studio album, Oh! Gravity..

“We are so honored to be a part of the Prince Caspian film with ‘This Is Home,’” says Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman. “The Narnia stories have a really special place in my brother Tim and my lives. Our dad used to read these to us at bedtime when we were boys. Our imaginations were shaped on these amazing novels.

“‘This Is Home’ was inspired by the book after re-reading it for the opportunity to write for the film,” continues Foreman. “I am always taken by [C. S.] Lewis’ ability to write about the bittersweet beauty in this world; this home we aren’t really made for but is the place we work out our humanity in the midst of our longing for our true home.”

“We are encouraged to continue our collaboration with Walt Disney Studios with the new Switchfoot song ‘This is Home’ for the new Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian film,” says Peter York, EMI CMG Label Group president. “The band continues to create thought provoking music and has been truly inspired by the C. S. Lewis series. It felt like a natural fit, and it’s an honor to continue to work with the Music/Creative team at Walt Disney Studios.”

“Going back to our first Narnia film, ‘The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe,’ Switchfoot was at the top of our creative list of artists whose sound and artistry we felt was a perfect fit,” said Mitchell Leib, President of Music and Soundtracks for Walt Disney Studios. “When approached for ‘Prince Caspian,’ Jon Foreman had a concise read on the story and delivered a stellar, important composition and record, which we feel reflects our film brilliantly. We are proud to have Switchfoot involved and to be working with our friends at EMI CMG once again.”

In conjunction with local market promotions around the film designed to build excitement toward the release of the new “Narnia” movie, EMI CMG Label Group will release “This Is Home” to AC and CHR Christian radio as Red Light Management/Entertainment works the single at mainstream AC and Triple A radio formats.

GMA BLOG #3

April 26th, 2008

Word.

Where did I leave off in #2?  Mmmk.

Tuesday night was Inpop Records(7-9pm) and Tooth and Nail Records(7-11pm) showcases at The Renaissance Ballroom and Rocketown Club respectively.  While we were waiting for the doors to open for Inpop when we saw our friends from Global Force TV.  They were going to the Tooth and Nail Showcase.  My brother was with me and just so happened to have a TV quality digital video camera with him(he’s a nerd…comes in handy) so we asked them if they needed an extra camera on the shoot.  They accepted our offer.  So we went to Rocketown where T&N had something like 15 bands performing in 4 hours!  Kutless, TFK, Ruth, RunKidRun, Spoken and bunches more.  Footage from this show can be seen in the coming weeks on Global Force TV Ch55 The Tube on Friday nights at midnight.  The 2 new bands that stood out the most were Capitol Lights(They just toured with Hawk Nelson) and Children18:3.  I expected another typical punk band from Children18:3….I was wrong.  I didn’t get it at first.  It was kind of like the first time you hear Mewithoutyou and you think “What are they trying to say???” and then after a while the light bulb goes off and you get it.  “ooooh, they are smarter than me!  I see now!”  By Children18:3’s 3rd song I came to a similar conclusion.  After the show I went back to the hotel.  I’ve got to be with the Morning Show w/Susan and Mike, dressed and in my right mind by 5:30am, ya know.

5:30 rolls around and I find myself dressed anyway.  33 Miles, 10 Ave North, Rush of Fools, MercyMe and others came by to bowl a few frames with us.  MercyMe emerged victorious!  Posting an almost perfect 89(.3)!  Putting BarlowGirl in 2nd with 68.  Good times.

After the morning show peeps signed off we tore down all the equipment and got fancied up for the dove awards.  The pre-show started at 4:30.  I left at 3pm.  I was taking no chances!  I want to see EVERYTHING!  When the Dove for “Best Children’s Choral Cover of a John Tesh Christmas Song” gets handed out I want to see it.  Skillet won for “Rock Song of the Year” with “Comatose”.  This was their 1st Dove Award ever, so I was elated to be present!  They should have a dozen by now, but whatever.  Switchfoot performed their song “This Is Home” from the upcoming Narnia soundtrack & David Crowder Band played “Everything Glorious” with lots of astroturf and flowers in the mix.  Overall, it was a delightful evening!

I’ll try to post some pics here soon.  Most of them are on other peeps cameras.  Boo.

Have a day!

GMA BLOG #2

April 22nd, 2008

Good afternoon, friend!  I am happily exhausted right now.  I am in the KSBJ booth at GMA getting ready to talk to Britt Nicole & Addison Road in a little while.  Before that happens, let’s get caught up on things since the last blog….

Yesterday, I made my way to the Inpop Records suite at the Hilton for a visit with Superchick.  I’m not sure why, but in the 5 years i’ve hosted Light force I have never had Superchick on the show…..this interview made up for all the lost time!  We laughed for a good 20 minutes.  SO MUCH FUN!  I’m excited to get it cut up and ready for your listening pleasure on Light force in the next couple weeks.  Thanks to Tricia, Melissa & Matt from Superchick for taking time to hang out.

After that, most of my KSBJ posse went to dinner….but not me.  I was taking no chances.  Switchfoot, Third Day, Switchfoot, Jars of Clay & Switchfoot were playing the famous Wildhorse here in Nashville(Did I mention those guys from San Diego were playing, too?)  It only holds 1,700 so I was going to claim my spot in line.  My sacrifice paid huge dividends!  When doors opened at 6pm for the 8:30pm show I had a front row view with the folks from Third Day’s fan club, The Gomers : )  Some of those Gomers had been in line since 2:30 that afternoon.  That is dedication.  While waiting 2 and 1/2 hours for showtime I made friends with Drew from the Lufkin radio station.  Two Texas radio boys in Nashville, TN hanging out at a Switchfoot show….needless to say we bonded immediately.  That’s what happens.  8:25 the show kicked off with Jars of Clay.  This was the most fun I had at a Jars of Clay performence since I was in high school 8 years ago.  I don’t know what got into those guys but I’m glad it did!  Then…..the moment I had planned my GMA schedule around arrived….Switchfoot!  It was strange going to a show with them where they were not the headliner.  They were as solid as ever.  With old friends, new friends and strangers, every Switchfoot show I go to feels like a family reunion : )  Third Day closed out the night with some chicken-friend southern rock n roll!  Here in the country music capitol of the world it felt like a proper way to close out the night.  The highlight for me was hearing Third Day dig deep down in ye olde songbook and play “Thief” off their debut CD.  Perhaps the best musical night of my life.  I can’t wait to experience it again with my friends and family in Houston!  Oh, yes……it’s coming to Houston.

After I came back to my room, I considered hanging out with the morning show from start to finish the next day and set my alarm for 4:30am…..4:30am rolls around and my alarm wakes me up and suddenly I’m having second thoughts.  I issue a notarized C&D order to my alarm clock and promptly return to my happy place…..for another 15 minutes anyway.  My phone rings and the voice on the other side informs me I have the microphone they need to record “liners” from the artists.  I had used it for my Superchick interview and neglected ro return it.  By 5am I was downstairs in the KSBJ booth ready to roll!

We bowled on the Wii with David Crowder, Britt Nicole, Sanctus Real, Switchfoot and others.  Matthew West & Greg Long had never played the Wii before, but managed to tie for 2nd place!  Of course, the highlight of my morning was giving bowling lessons to Jon Foreman from Switchfoot.  He’s a very humble, caring individual.  Someone who has something to say worth listening to, and looks you in the eye and listens if you have something to say.  You walk away feeling like you are a little bit sharper from your time together.

Anyway, by the shows end BarlowGirl remains in 1st with a score of 68.  Don’t forget to listen tomorrow!  It’s our last day here and your last chance to get in the drawing for the Wii!  Details on the Morning Show’s blog.

Just finished up lunch with Provident distribution.  Matt Maher and 10th Avenue North were spectacular.

So, here I am….happily exhausted and ready for more!

Tonight are the Inpop Records & & Tooth&Nail Records showcases!  Details in my blog tomorrow : )

GMA BLOG #1

April 21st, 2008

It’s a beautiful day in Nashville! I haven’t been outside yet, but I have a feeling it’s stellar : ) Last night was a little P&W with Michael W. Smith, Israel Houghton and New Breed, Mandisa and others(yeah “others” means I wasn’t there when they were introduced, but i’m sure you figured that out) This event was held in the Ryman Auditorium. The OLD Grandy Old Opry. The Ryman has been named something like “Best Theater Venue In the United States” multiple times. It’s a theater, but kind of feels like a church. The sound is PERFECT! From there I went to the Rennaisance ballroom for the most unique annual showcase, The Songwriter’s Showcase! This is the time writers perform the top songs up for Dove Awards. Sometimes it’s the same artist you hear on the radio telling you the story of how the song came to be, or it might be the social introvert that prefers to hide behind their piano and drink coffee alone for weeks at a time. I like it when those people come out of hiding and get a microphone in front of them with an audience of 1,000 people : ) haha Mark Hall from Casting Crowns and Bart Millard of Mercy Me were the emcees. They had the crowd rolling from start to finish! So funny….. Rush of Fools, Everyday Sunday, Chris Tomlin & Tobymac all played. The highlight for me was hearing Sanctus Real perform “Don’t Give Up”. Of all the times I have heard SR play they keep getting better. Matt’s voice seems even better when they are in a setting like this all unplugged and coffeehouse-like. Well worth the price of admission : ) Also, our hometown boys from Baytown, Leeland and Jack Mooring of the band Leeland performed Tears of The Saints. THIS is my song of the year Dove Award winner. Wow. At the end Mac Powell, Shane Everett, Mark Hall & Trevor Morgan performed “By His Wounds” from the Glory Revealed Soundtrack.

Then I went to bed.

This morning I came downstairs and listened in to the interviews on the morning show. Aaaaand I may or may not have worked in a little Wii Bowling action : ) So, far BarlowGirl is the high score. btw you can win the Wii the bands are playing. Check out the morning show page for info on that.

At lunch today Matthew West play his new song and hosted the showcase. Chasen, Jason Crabb, This Beautiful Republic, Josh Wilson & others played. Jason is a crazy awesome singer. He brought the southern gospel groove. Chasen was impressive. I guess I had low expectations. I was prepared for forgetable pop. I liked them. Josh Wilson is the man to watch for. He reminded me of Phil Keaggy with his guitar loops and overall 6-string wizardry. Crazy. Look him up on Youtube. There must be videos of his version of “Amazing Grace”.

I just wrapped up an interview with The Afters. We talked about their new record and a show they are playing in Houston around summer’s end. You will hear the interview on Lf in a few weeks.

Later today I’m going to chat with Superchick and then……..*drumroll* SWITCHFOOT tonight!

Tooth and Nail showcase Tuesday, Dove Awards Wednesday…..check back tomorrow for more (G)Nashville stuff!

Peace.

POD Nashville, TN - April 16, 2008 - Multi-Platinum rockers P.O.D. are back to reclaim their place atop the rock scene with their INO/Columbia Records debut, When Angels & Serpents Dance. The disc nabs the #9 spot on this week’s Billboard Albums Chart and #1 on the Contemporary Christian SoundScan chart. This marks P.O.D.’s fourth Top 10 release. Satellite (2001), Payable On Death (2003) and Testify (2006) also debuted in the Billboard Top 10 when released. In addition, P.O.D. have landed the coveted #1 spot on iTunes Rock album chart this past week.

Lead vocalist Sonny Sandoval says: “After 16 years of being in P.O.D., the loyalty of The Warriors continue to make us look good. We are truly grateful and blown away to see another Top 10 debut.”

The San Diego quartet’s renewed vigor is evident throughout When Angels & Serpents Dance. From the searing guitar which kicks off the hard-rocking first single, “Addicted,” and the striking and poignant, “End Of The World” (complete with gospel choir); to the album’s most ferocious track, the savage “God Forbid,” the disc has been receiving rave reviews in both the CBA and General Market.
