Summer is here and already people are having a tough time paying for the power they need to keep cool. On top of that, the cost of electricity could go up significantly in the next few months, putting yet another financial burden on those who are already having a tough time. If you need assistance, you must be a resident of Harris County, be at least 18 years old, have a disconnect notice, be head of household and provide proof of financial need. If you need help paying a summer time power bill, no matter who your electric provider is, call Harris County Social Services 713-696-7900.

About $275,000 has been donated to Shaohannah’s Hope since the May 21 passing of 5-year-old Maria Sue Chapman daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman. Steven asked that instead of flowers, contributions in memory of Maria be sent to Shaohannah’s Hope. The family previously founded the nonprofit organization to provide adoption assistance, awareness and orphan care. The Chapmans adopted three children from China, including Maria. Continue to keep them in your prayers.
