Students Have Until October To Get Some Shots

An emergency rule initiated by the Texas Department of State Health Services extends the deadline for some required school vaccinations. The extension applies only to three vaccines: Meningococcal, tetanus/diphtheria/acellular pertussis (Tdap) and varicella. Shortages of these vaccines have been reported around the state. There will be a job fair at the Leonard Merrell Center on 6301 South Stadium Lane. More than 50 businesses have registered for the event, offering some 2,000 jobs. The fair runs today from 9am to 3pm. It is free to the public. The Merrell Center is in Katy.
