Sharathon is over.  But you can still see what happened by going to the blogs and photo gallery for Sharathon this year.  There are videos and not only blogs about what happened on the air, but blogs about what it took to put the Sharathon on the air - and the prayer stories behind the scenes that constantly blessed us on air!

If you check it out on our website you can still give - if you were out of town or couldn’t get to the phone - you can still give.  If you’ve already given….THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Between work, school, family, and friends, we know you’re busy. So when you need information, you need it fast! Here’s how to find just about any information you need online for free. Bookmark these Websites we found in Woman’s World magazine.

  • First, to learn about new jobs: Try Indeed.com. This site compiles the latest job openings from thousands of websites. All you have to do is type the position you want, along with a zip code from the area you’d like to work, and a list of fresh new job postings will appear.
  • Here’s a great site to try if you can’t remember someone’s birthday: BirthDatabase.com. Simply type a person’s first and last name, as well as their approximate age, and this site will scour millions of public government records for the closest match, anywhere in North America!
  • Next, to track down an old friend: Try either Wink.com or Pipl.com. These are two “deep Web” search sites, which scour public and private internet pages – including profiles on social networking sites like LinkedIn or MySpace. They’ll provide you with links to profiles, blogs, photos and – in some cases - even phone numbers.
  • Next, if you need to run a background check on someone: Try BRBpub.com or CriminalSearches.com. Before you hire a new contractor or babysitter, ask them for a list of references along with their full name and birth date. Then, type that information into one of these sites for a peek at their criminal record – if they have one. If one name turns up many hits, consider that a red flag.
  • How about if you have questions about the safety of your medication? Try this site: Drugs.com/drug_interactions.php. Type a full list of all the vitamins, medications and supplements that you take into this site. Then it’ll alert you of any potential interactions that could be harmful to your health.
  • Finally, to get help writing the perfect resume: Try Razume.com. Just upload your current resume to this site, and a workplace professional will contact you with ideas to help tailor it in a way that’ll grab an employer’s attention. For an extra fee, they’ll also provide all the tools and resources you need to find and land the perfect job.

The Hurricane season opens June 1st and runs through November 30th…But this is National Hurricane Awareness week.  So, we want to give you some tips this week for being prepared!

Hurricanes and Your Health and Safety

  • The great majority of injuries during a hurricane are cuts caused by flying glass or other debris. Other injuries include puncture wounds resulting from exposed nails, metal, or glass, and bone fractures.
  • State and local health departments may issue health advisories or recommendations particular to local conditions. If in doubt, contact your local or state health department.
  • Make sure to include all essential medications — both prescription and over the counter — in your family’s emergency disaster kit.

ATTENTION IF YOU ARE NOT A MOM!!

I want to take just a minute to speak to you if you are a woman who has never raised or delivered a child of their own.  You may face this constant barrage of Happy Mother’s Day commercials, greetings, cards and talk of presents and meals with some hurt. I am so very sorry!

I want you to know that you are not forgotten.

For those who have been trying to have children but are struggling with infertility, have lost babies, or have never thought children were an option for you, I want you to know that you are precious women of God and we love you.  I know that sometimes it’s hard to sit through celebrations when our heart breaks, however, I know that God is going to give you a special blessing this day.   I know this, because I have prayed for you and that God will give you a special measure of His love for Mother’s Day.

God Bless you!

We’ve all heard of the The 5-Second Rule: if food falls on the floor, pick it up within five seconds and you can eat it. Whatever germs are on the floor don’t have time to adhere to the food that quickly. Or do they? A recent national survey by Kelton Research found that nearly 60% of Americans admit to eating food that has fallen on the floor. Would they continue doing that if they knew a typical home carpet has up to 4,000 times more bacteria particles — even after vacuuming — than toilet seats? Here’s the total number of bacteria particles found on one-inch square samples of different household surfaces:

  • Toilet seat: 49
  • Kitchen counter: 1,686
  • Kitchen tile: 2,546
  • Bathroom floor: 18,025
  • Carpet: more than 200,000

Why is the floor — the kitchen tile, the living room hardwood and the family room carpet — so dirty? Blame your shoes. Gerba found more than 400,000 units of bacteria inside and outside shoes, including the worst kind of all: E. coli. So does the 5-second rule work? No. Eat that cookie that falls on the floor, and you could also be ingesting a frosting of E. coli.
