The Hurricane season opens June 1st and runs through November 30th…But this is National Hurricane Awareness week.  So, we want to give you some tips this week for being prepared!

Hurricanes and Your Health and Safety

  • The great majority of injuries during a hurricane are cuts caused by flying glass or other debris. Other injuries include puncture wounds resulting from exposed nails, metal, or glass, and bone fractures.
  • State and local health departments may issue health advisories or recommendations particular to local conditions. If in doubt, contact your local or state health department.
  • Make sure to include all essential medications — both prescription and over the counter — in your family’s emergency disaster kit.

We had a blast with our Open House yesterday!  More than 500 people came out for a tour of our facility, food and plenty of it!  Francesca Battistelli was here with two different intimate concerts for those that were crowded into the auditorium.  We had guided tours of the new digs upstairs - I even got to see my office for the first time!

Check out our Virtual Tour of the facility with Mike and Susan - check it out …you get a complete (although a quirky) tour by the Morning Team.

Mike and Susan lead you on a Virtual Tour: (29:33)

Now our tours are over for now, but your scout troup, your class or your family can always arrange a tour of KSBJ by calling us at 281-446-5725.  We can arrange tours nearly any day - Monday through Friday.  So, come on over! We’d love to show you what our donors have provided for us to use in the work we do for God…..and for you too.

I bought a “new to me” car last week.  With our new baby coming I needed to have a bigger car than my miata for carrying our precious cargo around.  Now the car I purchased had an added feature - a DVD player.  I’ve never had anything like that, so I was really excited to have that available on long trips.  But why wait!?

Last weekend my daughter Sarah Beth and I loaded up on snacks and drinks and headed out to the driveway.  It was dark.  The car was parked in the driveway. We got in, put in a DVD and kicked back and watched a movie…..in the car….parked in the driveway!  It was like a night at the drive in movie theatre - sort of!   We laughed about it, worried that the neighbors would think we were nuts!  But we did it! We had a blast!  The movie wasn’t that great, but we laughed alot, and had time together.

Maybe I’ve invented a new entertainment opportunity for the whole family!  the DON’T DRIVE IN DRIVE IN MOVIE!!   Try it!

What can one person do?!  Plenty!  The Power of One.   Maybe it was because ONE person stood up for an injustice and it was changed, or maybe it is that ONE person was able to reach out to others and really help them change their circumstances or their whole life!    We want to hear your story of ONE…one moment, one decision, one person that changed your life forever or turned you to Christ. The Power of ONE is huge and we want to encourage you to be that one…and have you encourage others that ONE with the help of God is more than enough to change the course of history!

There’s a Christian book out about the difference between men and women called “Men are like Waffles and Woman are like Spaghetti”  It talks about how different we are.  A recent study shows males and females hate to eat the same things. The survey of 14,000 adults confirmed what most moms already knew — boys love meat and frozen pizza while girls lean toward fruits, veggies and yogurt. But there were a few surprises in the survey, the largest study of its kind. Researchers discovered guys are more likely to eat asparagus, Brussels sprouts, peas and peanuts. Men also ignore the risk of food poisoning by eating more undercooked eggs and hamburgers, while the majority of women steer clear of items linked to cases of food borne contamination.

American Idol alumni Phil Stacey and Mandisa were both on the Morning Show this morning.  Phil has kicked off his new career in Christian Music with a new album and he came into the studio to sing for us and talk about the work he’s been doing.  While he was here, Mandisa called in for her weekly update on American Idol this season.  It was really fun to hear the two of them talk about this season, and who might win, and who should.  They also talked about who should NOT win..if we want them to sing Christian music.  Check out Mandisa and Phil on our Media Gallery this morning.
