If you and the fam want to head to the Amusement Park this vacation - whether you’re going to San Antonio or Orlando - it can be costly…so how about some ways to save cash.
- Look for internet specials and coupons in newspapers…and check out GROCERY ITEMS and Fast Food Chains - sometimes they have coupons too. There are even coupons on some Coke cans that offer two for one admissions.
- If you’re planning on being there for several days - check out the cost of a season pass - often those pay for themselves in a couple of visits, so they could save you some money if you’re planning a few days.
- Disney Parks are all offering free admission this year if you visit on your birthday
- Triple A sells deeply discounted advance tickets to attractions and theme parks too.
- In Orlando - there’s a kids eat free card you can get - it’s good at Disney World, Universal Tours, SeaWorld and about 100 local restaurants too!
- Can’t find a discount in the paper or on line? Call the park and ask them about the Best DEALS. They may help you find some real savings.
- One mom called with a great idea to save money on souvenirs and t-shirts/hats etc. She said they bought them before they went on the trip (at the Mouse Store) they were cheaper than at the park and they could then pass them out during the vacation. The kids get the goodies but it doesn’t cost as much!
Don’t be afraid to talk to the kids before you every head out for the vacation - tell them you’re saving money or it’s tight and you can do the amusement parks - but can’t afford all of the extras - like souvenirs and arcade games. That’ll cut down on your expenses, and their whining!
Sharathon is over - but the amazing stories of what God did during and since Sharathon are still coming in! We’ve been so blessed to share the stories of people who have been faithful in their giving and living for God - and He’s proved faithful to them too! What about it? Do you have a story of God already honoring your Sharathon work or gift? One woman said after doubling her gift they found a house they fell in love with, bought it - sold their own house in nine days and they’re going to move in to the new one in two weeks! That’s amazing! Another woman told us how she and her spouse committed to their Sharathon gift and she lost her job the same day! What?! Wait….she said she immediately got a big insurance check twice as big as she’d thought - she was re-united with her ex-stepson AND she already has a new job to start today! God is so good!
Sharathon is over. But you can still see what happened by going to the blogs and photo gallery for Sharathon this year. There are videos and not only blogs about what happened on the air, but blogs about what it took to put the Sharathon on the air - and the prayer stories behind the scenes that constantly blessed us on air!
If you check it out on our website you can still give - if you were out of town or couldn’t get to the phone - you can still give. If you’ve already given….THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Okay, I have been riding the motor scooter again….It saves gas and I love the feeling too! But, I have to admit that I’m learning some Spiritual lessons from the back of the scooter. It may seem like a strange place to get that kind of epiphany, but even this morning I was struck by —-relax, I was struck by a thought — nothing else.
Here’s the Spiritual lesson, the thought that God really brought home on my scooter today. When you ride in your car on a hot summer’s day in Houston, you’ve got the windows up, the air conditioning blowing and you likely have KSBJ blaring away on the radio. I hope you do anyway. But, when all of those conditions exist on your trip in…you’re in a big metal cocoon and you don’t get much outside sensation. Right? That’s how I ride into work - most days - inside my cocoon, same roads and same sites.
On the scooter, I’ve found a very different ride in to work. I mean, I am going the same roads, the same sites - but my senses are so bombarded outside of that cocoon and on the back of the scooter. I have been amazed at the smells - some areas smell like fresh grass, some like the homes you pass, and some areas smell…..well, I’ve learned to hold my breath there. There is a change in the temperature in some areas - where there is lots of grass it’s kind of cool….lots of pavement and it warms alot - you can tell! I see things differently because I’m getting a different visual cue while on the scooter. Outside of the “usual” my senses - all of them - are bombarded. Taste? yes! But I’m learning to keep my mouth closed.
So, what’s the Spiritual lesson in all of that? This morning God and I were talking about it. I have a tendency to stay in my safe cocoon of my normal life. I go to church and sit in my same pew, see the same people, sing the same songs the same way I’ve done for years. I sit to say grace at the table in the same ways I have done for a long lifetime. I often even ask God for the same things in my prayer life, in the same ways I have over and over again. It’s the SAME. But, what if I open my spiritual senses to see, hear, smell and taste differently? My prayers could be not about me or my family, but about needs of people around me… My prayers could be spoken in different ways - and I could listen more. God and I talked about the idea of seeing things much differently - opening my spiritual eyes to see people and situations around me very differently - the way He sees them, instead of seeing them through my own eyes.
The lessons I’ve learned from the back of a scooter are not over either - if I can do what God and I talked about today - to open up to a new experience with Him. I believe I’m just starting on the lessons and experiences that He has for me. So, how about it? Would you open up in a new way to Him too? Can you get ready for NEW experiences with God?
The plugged in movie review this morning had a first for us, Bob reviewed two movies - Sandra Bullock’s THE PROPOSAL and Jack Black’s YEAR ONE. Bob didn’t like either one - for reasons you can hear on our Media Gallery today…but here’s the first for us. . .
Bob gave YEAR ONE a zero for family friendly. If you and the family were thinking about taking in what looked like a funny film - Bob says there was nothing he can recommend. You can get the whole review and more
I got a call from a young mother this morning, she was wondering about her relationship with God….we talked for a while and she knows now that God has given her eternal life. But we also talked about how God thinks of us…in the same kinds of terms as we think of our children. The Bible says He is Daddy God. The Bible says He calls us precious and that He rejoices over us with singing!
This young mom and I were talking about the idea that during a day at work - as moms - we stop and think of our children and what they are doing. In the Bible it says God thinks of us that way too. WOW!
God rejoices over you today….
Please be praying for Little Sam to get to come home today - he’s seven weeks old tomorrow and has been in the NICU at Texas Childrens’ since birth. This week there’s been a promise of him coming home every day and at the last minute - they’ve said tomorrow…we’re hoping that today is the day! Please pray with us that Mike and Becky and Abby Grace and Sam can all finally be home together.
This morning I realized that I’ve got the best job ever! This week Mike and I were priviledged to talk with Jeannette, Maria, Victor, Terry and Anna and each one of them prayed the prayer to give their heart to Christ. We were with them when they were re-born…and given eternal life. Isidro prayed to rededicate his life too! What a moment! Or I guess moments - six different times we were able to pray with these precious souls…and one by one they dedicated their hearts to make Him Lord of their life! WOW! I feel like dancing…and the Bible says Angels celebrate in heaven everytime this happens - so I won’t be dancing alone!
I also want to say this to you if you’re a giving listener to KSBJ - you have your fingerprints on each of these people’s lives - you are a part of their decision today just like Mike and I were priviledged to be. By your gift to this ministry you are supporting the message of Christ that goes over the air that brought these six people to Jesus today. Thank you Thank you!
If you’re THINKING about becoming a giving listener for KSBJ this Sharathon next week - look at what you can be part of - the gift of making sure that people have eternal life. If you could have heard the joy in Victor’s voice when he said he felt clean and new again! He’s been in prison and felt chained to his sins - now…he’s free! That’s what God does with the support given to this ministry.
If you’d like to give now…go back to the main page and look in the left hand corner - it’s really easy to give on line and then you’re part of every special moment on the air and off at KSBJ! Now, excuse me, I’ve got some celebrating to do….May I have this dance?
Keep praying! Sam Michael Kankelfritz is likely going to get to come home from the NICU this week. Doctors say that after a little over six weeks, Sam may be ready to come home to Mike, Becky and Big Sister Abby Grace. He now weighs 5 pounds and 6 ounces. NOT HOME YET, SO, Please pray that all goes well, and Sam can be at home, and the family can get the chance to all be together in their own house - and sigh a big sigh of relief. By The Way! We at KSBJ are very grateful for all of the prayers you have prayed for them and for all of the kinds words of encouragement too.
