We found out this morning that American Idol chose to use Mercy Me’s song “I Can Only Imagine” last night as they rolled their credits following a very tender story of a young man who gave up his dreams to care for his dying mother.  It was really cool to know that the producers of the show chose the song.  God is glorified!

It was actually BEFORE the credits! Before they show you the 12 that made it to Hollywood! That’s even more Amazing! Grace & Peace to you.

I heard the song too. My daugher and I looked at each other and was totally surprised! I was so glad to hear it. I believe it was two seasons ago all the finalists sang “Shout to the Lord” as their special song together in the beginning of the show. I was amazed!!!! Also that same season Dolly Parton came out and sang her song about Jesus as her friend. (Can’t remember the name.) It makes you feel so good to hear those things. I was smiling down deep inside!!!!

Did you know that we have a former local guy on American Idol? We will find out if he makes it to top 36 on Wednesday. His name is Michael Sarver (the “Roughneck”). He used to be a lead singer at Victory Christian Center here in Houston but moved to Jasper a couple of years ago. He was leading there at Harvest Church. The Fox news channel in Houston was at Harvest Sunday filming our service. Michael is also the only Texas contestant left so we need to show him all the support we can.
