It’s President’s Day! And there are many closures in effect for today’s President’s Day holiday. While state, county and city courts are open, federal offices and courts will be closed. There will be limited mail delivery, with the exception of express mail next day service. All post offices and branches are also closed.
There is a community prayer service later this morning in Clarence, New York near where the Continental flight 3407 crashed last week. 50 people lost their life in that crash. Please continue to pray for the families and for the neighborhood where the plane went down.
Texas cattle ranchers who are trying to rebuild from the aftermath of Hurricane Ike are getting some help, from Amish volunteers- Despite their own financial challenges at home with job losses and the struggling economy, some 35 Amish volunteers from Indiana joined up with the Fellowship of Christian Farmers to help rebuild fences for herds that have little-by-little been corralled by cowboys and helicopters.
Lance’s bike has been stolen and he wants it back! The gold and black bike Lance Armstrong used in Saturday’s prologue race in Sacramento, California has been stolen. Police say a thief cut the lock on the team’s unmarked trailer and got away with Armstrong’s time-trial bike and three other racing bikes belonging to his teammates. Armstrong is offering a reward and he’s gong to be putting pictures of it up on the stop signs in the neighborhood too….
It streaked across the sky this weekend… a blaze of fireballs in the skies above cities as far apart as Austin, Dallas and Houston yesterday. They were followed by sonic booms. The Federal Aviation Authority had advised pilots earlier in the day to watch out for chunks of debris from the recent crash of two satellites in low orbit.
