We had one at 24.3 weeks, and though she had some major physical struggles to overcome, with lots of prayer, family, friends, and a mighty God to watch over her, she is now a beautiful, perfectly healthy, thriving 6 year old. Our prayers are with you. God is Bigger!!!!

  5. Paul Says:

My heart goes out to you Mike. We trust in God that everything will be OK. But as a parent myself, I know how much you are worried and are thinking about Becky and your unborn son. As you said this morning, everything looks good for the baby. All the tests, ultrasounds, etc. have been very positive. That is great news and I’m am sure everything will turn out great for you and your family. Our family will be praying for you, Becky, and the baby. All is good with God!

I listen to you every morning on the way to work. I tell my girls (which are grown) what’s going on with you and they say it seems like I know both of you. Well, I feel like I do. Our prayers are with you! I can honestly say that I know what you are going through! Almost eight years ago I gave birth to my son Carson. I had been on bedrest for 3 weeks due to issues with my blood pressure and toxemia. Carson was born at 30 weeks weighing 2 lbs 14oz. God was so good to our family and saw us through the next weeks while Carson was in the hospital to finish growing! Carson will turn 8 at the end of May and he is truly our miracle baby! He is a happy, healthy and very energetic 1st grader and I am truly a blessed mommy! We will continue to keep your family in our prayers! 12. alayna Says:

in september of this past year i was pregnant with my first child. i had an easy pregnancy until 31 weeks. i was in and out of the hospital because of a car accident and then contractions for no reason. the doctors weren’t sure what was exactly wrong until the last time i went to the hospital at 32 weeks. it was pre eclampsia. i was discharged from the hospital on a friday afternoon after they gave the baby steroids for her lung development. everything looked good with the baby. i had a terrible night that night and ended up in the hospital with major swelling, high blood pressure, and hard to breathe. i stayed in the hospital that night getting the shots to lower the blood pressure. nothing helped and so they ended up doing an emergency c section. my beautiful baby girl was born september 7 and excellent health. she stayed in icu for 10 days because her temperature was hard to stabilize… now she is a 7 month old, happy and very active baby! God definately blessed us and we haven’t had any problems. He was preparing her before we even new she was coming!

    hope this encourages you!

    Alayna

  13. Dianne Says:

I will be praying for you, Becky, and your new baby boy that the delivery will go smoothly and both will be healthy.

  14. leslie Says:

rearly 17 years ago my daughter was born 7 1/2 weeks early at an even 4lbs. she only stayed in the hospital a few weeks, started to eat on her own and by the time she was 6 mos the dr put her on 2% milk because she was getting too fat. she has never had a health problem in her life praise God! your family will be in my prayers. God is amazing!

  15. Bernadette Fernandes Says:

I have been praying for you, Becky and the baby when I heard on the air about the situation mom and baby are in, the Lord is in control of the three of you and I have prayed that the LORD’s hand will be over Becky and the baby, that they will have the best doctors and nurses taking care of them and that all is well. I have cared for premie babies for 30 years and prayers is the best medicine. God Bless you all and be with you all.

  16. Mitzi H. Says:

My children and I listen to you guys every morning on our way to school. My son, Justin, age 6, is very interested in all things God. Mike made a huge impression on him this morning when he was talking about Becky and the baby being born early and needing prayer. Justin has reminded me throughout the day that Mike and his family need prayer. I just put Justin to bed and his prayer was, “Lord, please help Mike’s wife and baby be healthy. Help them while they are in the hospital and help the baby not to hurt his Mommy.” I am convinced that God hears and answers the prayers of innocent hearts. Please know that you were prayed for today by my little angel. May God bless you and yours during this time!

  17. KT Says:

My prayers are with you. I also had PIH with both of my pregnancies. My son was born at 32 weeks. They warned us of all the possible scenarios. We were terrified and prayer was our comfort. Our 4 lb 15 oz baby boy is now 6 years old. He is absolutely perfect! Sometimes it is hard for us to see the perfectness of God’s plan with our limited vision. May God bless you and your family with peace, strength and a beautiful baby!

  18. Jennifer Royer Says:

This is a prayer for Mike, Becky, Abby-Grace, and their little one. Our son Dylan was born 2 lbs 7 oz on August 23, 2007 – he was the size of a beanie baby. The umbilical cord and placenta had deterioated and dr.s estimated he was in “distress” for 2 weeks. Our last ultra sound turned into an emergency c-section. He stabilized, was in the NICU 4 days, crashed on a Sat and was life-flighted to Memorial Hermann. From that day on those amazing angels (dr.s & nurses) helped him get better and better. He came home 1 month and 1 week later on my birthday and he is a healthy, happy lil boy. In all that time there was a lot of praying going on – and it helped. God really does listen – Mike, your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and I know God will help your precious little baby. After all, children are his best work in my opinion. Jen

  19. Mike Says:

Everything will be ok. My daughter was born a little over a month early. 5 lbs, now healthy, beautiful, energetic and very spoiled 14 year old. God will be watching over all.

  20. TS Says:

My prayers are with you all. Our son was 5 weeks early, we had two weeks in the NICU, (the nurses and dr.’s were amazing!), now at 8 months he is into everything and we love every second of it! During my pregnancy and even now, I would sing to our son “Jesus Loves Me”, but I would say “Jesus Loves You” , change me to you when you sing to your baby, that simple song served as a reminder to me, during the time my son was in the NICU, that God is faithful, and He is in control. While we may be weak, He is strong and He loves us, simple as that. So happy that you will be able to see your baby soon! So happy that God is faithful and He is taking care of Becky as well. He has a great plan and ministry for you and your family. Our prayers are with you.

  21. Marci Says:

Our prayers are with Mike & Becky..at times we are asked to do out-of-the ordinary things to follow Christ, even giving birth early. Our Lord will give you courage and strength during this time, know that His hands are there helping to deliver your precious son. May God’s love and peace be with you both and Abby-Grace, as she becomes a big sister.

  22. Gabriele Says:

  45. Mary Beth Allen Says:

Congratulations Mike! I can’t believe how healthy little “Sam” is! I had my daughter, Rylee at 32 weeks and she was right at 3lbs. She had to stay in the hospital one month before they let her come home, so I know how hard that can be. Always remember that you serve a God that not only loves you, but already loves little Sam and has loved him from the moment that he was conceived…even before.
I used to visit Rylee in the hospital three times a day and would hold her and pray over her…I told God how much I loved her and didn’t know what I’d do without her in my life already. Clear as day, God spoke to me and said…”I love her more than YOU do…” and from that moment I knew that God was watching over her and he will do the same for Sam. Congratulations to you and Bekky both. You are very lucky to have two little miracles in your life. You are in my continued prayers.

  46. Mary Says:

My 30 week little girl weighed exactly the same. The early milestones were slow; however she was reading at four. Today, she is a special ed teacher with 2 little guys of her own. Just to let you know that I too have one of those precious preemies and as a former NICU nurse have taken care of many just like baby Samuel. God does not mess up. We do not know why. We do know He has a perfect plan for you, Becky, Abbie Grace, and baby Samuel. Stay in His perfect will and He will keep you. As for my preemie, he will be 17 next week, and is 6ft tall. God had me live and I am still here. My mother did not get me till I was at 5 lbs. and that was when I was 5 months old ! So I am truly one of God’s Miracle’s also. As little Sam is too. 62. Sheila Horne Says:

Mike, Becky, & Abbey-Grace congratulations on Sam’s arrival. My prayers have and will continue to be with you. My husband were ministering in Jax. Fl about 15 years ago, a little girl was born to some friends of ours she weighed in at 1lb. and 5oz. We went in and prayed for her and several of the other ministers from our church too. She had a major brain bleed, but when the specialists were checking her out they couldn’t find it and thought the nurses had sent them wrong baby. Three diffrent doctors called three diffrent times to NICU to check if they had the right baby. God does miracles she is a beautiful young lady living for God and the only thing is she wears glasses. My God is in the miracle business, glad to hear he is fiesty and breathing on his own. Thank you also sharing this part of your lives with us that we can be apart by lifting you and your family up in prayer. God Bless you all.

  63. Casey Says:

God bless the Kankelfritz family! My prayer is that He will make all of you strong to get through this hurdle. Strength for Sam to grow. Mike and Becky to get the rest they need. And Abbey Grace because she has a little brother who will look after her. God bless the Kankelfritz family!

  64. Deborah Says:

    Hello Mike and family,

There is a song I always remember when times are so nerve racking, maybe you know it.

He didn’t bring us this far to leave us. He didn’t teach us to swim to let us drown. He didn’t build a home in us to move away and he didn’t lift us up to let us down.

I had a normal pregnancy at age 40 and a delivery I’ll never forget. When my daughter met this world she was not breathing and they rushed her away from me, I saw the expressions of all my family in the room with me at that time(it was full) and no matter how they saw it I knew it would all be ok. Her name is Mary and she is my gift from GOD!

May you and your family be wrapped in GOD’s peace so no matter how you see things or how you would have the doctors see things you feel It is all ok.

  65. Anna Garcia Says:

God Bless you Baby Sam!!!!!! Congrats Mike and Becky !!!!!

  66. Debbie Heinze Says:

We know God has a plan for Sam and all of us. I lived in Tulsa 04 to May of 06 helping my Mom who has Alzheimers. (She is now at Sterling House Broken Arrow) I loved listening to you and Mike in the morning on KXOJ 89.3. Now I love you and Susan here in Houston.
Our prayers continue for your family. God is an awesome and loving God.
    God bless you all.

  67. George San Angelo Says:

    Hello Mike and Becky,

Your baby boy is so precious. I just wanted to write and say that I know God will take care of the little guy just as he did for my son Trysten. Trysten was born at 32 weeks when my wife suffered from preeclampsia. He spent about a month in the NCIU while his lungs were maturing. He is now 16 months and completely healthy and running all over the house tearing everything up in sight. The doctors in the NICU are great as well as the nurses and I know that will take great care of little Samuel. God is in control and he will look over you all.

    God bless
    The San Angelo’s

  68. christine Says:

Congrats on your new arrival Mike, Becky and big sis Abby Grace. Jesus loves the little children and baby Samuel is in His hands and we stand in prayer believing and trusting for all things to work well by His power to bring Him glory and praise.

  69. Amanda Says:

Your story is such an inspiration and so are the remarks left by those who have been praying for baby Sam. I feel as though I can relate. I am 26 weeks pregnant and 1 day and I have been on bed rest for 3 weeks now. I am expecting two preemies sometime between now and my due date of Aug 9th. My big boy is 1.8 pounds and my little guy is only 14 oz. I will add baby Sam to my prayers as this is the first time I have heard his miraculous story. I know it takes strong parents, a fighting baby, and most importantly an awesome God for these miracles to occur. I hope our stories have a happy ending like the many others who I have read about. May God bless your sweet little Samuel, my little Jason and Recce, keep them strong, and bring them home safely. Thank you for sharing and giving me hope.

I am so glad you shared pictures with the listeners. I also had my son early (34 weeks). We were actually told that we needed to terminate our pregnancy due to chromosome issues. We firmly told our doctor that the decision to terminate a pregnancy was not for us to make. While Brock was a preemie, he was born perfectly healthy. I pray that Sam will have a similar outcome and will live a very full life. You are blessed!

My son Graham was born 71/2 weeks early at Texas Children’s. He is now 20 years old and such a sweet, loving and caring young man attending college at A & M. I know that little Sam will grow up to be the same sweet, loving and caring young man because you and Becky have the love of Jesus Christ in your hearts. My prayers are with you as you go through each day with your sweet children Abby Grace and Sam. Bless you.

  81. Pam Says:

Congratulations! God is so good. I know Becky is going to be SOOO ready to get out of the hospital. Sam will be fine and Abby Grace will absolutely LOVE her little brother. You’ll all look back on this and see living proof of God’s grace. He does love us so much. My “Tiny Miracle” Peyton will be Dedicated this Mother’s Day at New Hope Church. She started out at 2 pounds 2 ounces. She is another prayer answered! God Bless you all.

My grandbabies, Kendall Paige, weighed 5 lbs 10 ozs, 18½” tall and her brother Luke Ray, weighed 4 lbs 9 ozs, 18″ tall were born April 6, 2009. What grand blessings in teeny, tiny packages. He is precious, how blessed you are. My Sarah Marie was a 28 week premie, 2lbs 12oz. We were both really sick at the time and the docs said it was safer for both of us if she was delivered. She spent 6 weeks in the hospital, she was 4 lbs when she was released. I remember praying during delivery that if one of us could be saved let it be my baby girl. Once we were stable I had this sense of peace I could never explain, everyone kept asking how I could bo so calm, I just knew all would be OK. Sarah will be 13 this summer, you would never guess she was a premie by looking at her.

I really enjoy the morning show, thanks for all you do. Prayers for speedy recovery for both Becky and baby. Blessings and Hugs to you all!!!

Mike & Beky, my daughter was 3.10 lbs when she was born 4 years ago and you could not tell it today. She is so energetic, independent and sharp! It was very difficult for us as parents to see our little girl in the NICU every day, and some days not even be able to hold her, but God took great care of her, and helped her develop into a perfect little girl.
God is taking care of your sweet little boy and has great plans for him and your family. God bless you!!!

  105. Judy Rushing Says:

Hi Mike and Susan. I love your show. Thanks for embrasing each of us in the morning with your love and humor. Thank you for also including us in your lives, though I know that has to be hard at times. I am praying for you all. Being pre-mature is not as scary as it use to be. I am sure Sam will do fine. I am raising twins that were early. They only weighed 2lbs. and 3lbs at birth. Michael had to have a little help,s he was the smallest. He is a 17 year old now. I know you probably hear a lot of these stories, but one of my Principal’s had a daughter, kind like your daughter, though I think she is more severe. She can’t do anything for herself, doesn’t show a whole lot of emotions, but they have loved her and taken care of her her whole life. About two years later they had another little girl who has been healthy and loving. The older little girl is in her forties I think. The youngest one just had a baby of her own. You and you wife are doing a great job. It isn’t easy I know, but you will truly be blessed. May God continue to watch over all of you. Thank you for being there to remind us that God is there and that there is hope. Love you guys. Judy

Listening to KSBJ is my morning theraphy going to work and God has answered all of my prayers. I had two miscarriages before my oldest son whom I conceived for 6 months literally in bed. He is turning 20 in September. After him I had another miscarriage, so the fear of having another baby increased…BUT…my faith in God was stronger than the fear I was feeling. Now I have 4 healthy, beautiful children..20, 14, 9 and 6 years old. To Mike, Becky, Abby Grace and Sam…our Heavenly Father is always watching over you. Everything in life has a purpose and only HE knows the reason for these. Our GOD is an AWESOME GOD, a LOVING FATHER who will never let His children down. MY prayers are always with you…and to little Sam and I believe that you are strong, a great fighter because GOD is your stronghold and shield amidst all these trials. God bless you all.

  122. Lydia Says:

Some months ago, you said on the air that a friend had a dream you were going to have another baby. You asked callers to call in and tell of their dream experiences. I called in and said that I had not one, but 5 friends tell me they had a dream I was expecting. I tried to encouraged you that God was in control and knew what he was doing. We were on the air and so I gave you the nervous and short version. What I didn’t tell you was that … At first I thought it was funny. By the time friend #3 came around, I began to get real suspicious. By the time friend #5 came around, I said “Don’t tell me… you dreamed I was going to have a baby”. I didn’t tell anyone. But I was terrified, angry and hurt. My life was in the midst of the firy furnace and I did not think I could handle the blessing which was to come. I was angry mostly with God. He was my best friend and I didn’t understand how he would allow me to go through this, knowing how much turmoil I felt in my soul. Needless to say, by God’s grace, I have grown much. He taught me much through this experience. But what I wanted to say most is that the baby I was expecting, the baby that I thought I could not handle… God used him to bring me the joy I so needed, to get through the trials and struggles that I was facing.
Take joy and courage… God is with you always and in control. He will see you through the waters, the valley and guide you to the top of the mountain. I know your baby boy will be such a blessing in many ways. Praying always for you and all your family,
    A faithful listener!

It sounds truly awesome for our special needs kids. I have another granddaughter and a nephew that are special needs and am going to check it out further. God bless you.
