National Cancer Survivors Day is s an annual international event to raise awareness of cancer and celebrate survivors. Houston Methodist Cancer Center at The Woodlands is celebrating Survivors Day on June 11th with their second annual “Survivorship Celebration”! Our Cancer Center has been operational for just over 2 years, but we are already making a big impact on the community we serve. Our event last June was well received by patients, their families and caregivers, and staff and physicians. We had snacks, cake, balloons, a makeshift photo booth and we made a collage of our intertwined hand prints on a canvas which we framed. I was particularly moved by a comment from a representative from the American Cancer Society who attends many Survivors Day celebrations. She told me she had never witnessed such warm and personal interactions between staff and physicians with the patients and their families. This year we plan on making our celebration bigger and better and we would LOVE if KSBJ could be a part of it!! We are a faith-based hospital and we feel your team would be a wonderful addition to our event. Maybe one of the DJs could speak, provide music, live remote, etc. We are open to any possibilities and would consider any support a true blessing. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
