'West End Baptist Church was totalled by Ike. Our home had over four feet of water and we are on piers! I was born here in Galveston. I remember when I was a kid, churches were full on Sunday mornings and the beaches were virtually empty. Today so much has changed. I have seen many Hurricanes since 1951, but nothing was ever quite like Ike. I remember when KSBJ began- I was in College Station at the time. It was hard to pick up, but early and late the sweet praise of Jesus would tune in and my soul would soar with the music. Back home to the island, after the storm, the sounds of God's people fill this island community again. The music of KSBJ- the encouragement, the hope, the peace, the life- provides a constant lift as we struggle to rebuild lives, homes, churches and community. I have been blessed- my wife and I serve as volunteers in the rebirth effort. I pastor West End. We are a church again. Someday we will be back in our home as well. Though I spend most of my time in a wheelchair, the stream of living water flowing from KSBJ, keeps me filled with a constant vision of God's eternal, constant presence.
