Kelly’s Progress…

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The best part about joining a running group is that you get to know, grow and cheer on new friends in this most outstanding challenge of your lives. Kelly Crutchfield won an In Flight training package through KSBJ and today Jen and I received an update on her progress.

3681744529_f11056a0b1_m“I feel fantastic!  I am eating better, sleeping better, feel more productive, and my mood has been regulated (I struggle with anxiety and depression). God has revealed some different life lessons to me already too. One example, I realized I was being so cautious and reserved in my pace at the beginning of, and during, a run because I didn’t want to run out of steam and fall short from how far I ran the previous run for fear of feelings of failure.  I felt like God said the following to my heart, “you are so afraid of failing that you don’t trust yourself enough to put yourself out there and see what you can really accomplish, you are playing it safe.  You do this in so many areas of your life and you do this with me. Time to step out, start trusting more, turn off the critical voices and be blessed by knowing you did you best.”  Wow!!  Huge awareness for me!
So, I am still not even a month in, but completed 3 miles for the first time today!  My first 5k is this Saturday.  My first try at running on June 8th, I could only run a half mile!  I was in the middle of my weight loss journey when I started training, I wanted to lose 63 more lbs., and since losing the 7, I have 56 more lbs. to go, and I *will* do it!  That’s another thing, I have more confidence in my abilities as well!  I truly feel this opportunity is an answered prayer and an opportunity to be a testimony to God.  The progress is all because of Him and my willingness to be disciplined & obedient to Him! :)”

Kelly, we are SO PROUD of you!!
