A word from Tim to you

Dear Friends,

I think we’ve finally settled into our fall routines at our house—how about yours? School… Kids… Work… Life, and it all goes so fast!

Sometimes, I feel like my life is rushing by at 100 MPH, and I should put on running shoes when I get out of bed just to keep up. You probably know the feeling.

But as busy as my day is, my wife Trudy is even busier. She has a million things of her own to do each morning, and before she even starts on those, she has to make sure our youngest daughter gets to school on time. It makes for some very early alarm clock settings.

Then, four years ago, Trudy started doing something amazing. Something incredible.

Matthew 6:33 reminds us to “seek FIRST the kingdom.” We all know that, but it’s easier said than done! Well, Trudy is actually doing it. Every day, she gets up earlier than early to spend time in the Word. That’s right, she is sacrificing sleep to seek FIRST the kingdom. With her Bible in hand and a journal by her side (there’s just something special about pen and paper, isn’t there?), she has quality time with God. She tells me it makes a huge difference in her day, and I believe her!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I have my own times with God. But isn’t it easy to start your day first, and only then try to figure out how to work God in? True confession, sometimes my days went by so fast, I didn’t find that time.

It’s different for Trudy. Faithfully, every morning, she makes God a priority. She has inspired me to do the same.

As a KSBJ listening friend, you know there’s just something right about filling our minds with good things—things of hope and life, especially when our world is filled with darkness and despair. Beth Moore told our staff one day that she makes her daughters listen to KSBJ first thing in the morning, because she knows the power of priority.

Every day, your prayers and generous gifts help KSBJ fill lives all across Houston with hope, encouragement, and praise. In this issue of The Voice of Hope, the testimonies from little Gabriela and the mom watching over her daughter at the hospital show what an impact our positive message is having, thanks to you.

Amazing things happen when we keep our hearts focused on the kingdom. I know it’s not New Year’s yet, but let me encourage you: if you don’t already, make time with God FIRST on your list, even if it means getting up a little earlier. Put the power of priority to work for you—and keep listening to KSBJ!
