Life Defining Moments: “Have Doubts? You’re Not Alone”

I have never seen this verse before. It’s just before one of the greatest passages in the Bible.

Jesus has just given His life on the cross, rose from the dead three days later, and then spent 40 days with His disciples and friends. And now He is about to ascend into heaven and gives what we commonly call “The Great Commission” – you know – “Go and make disciples…”

If that were you and me, we would all be true believers, right?

Wrong. On the mountain just before the Great Commission, Matthew 28 says “And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him, but some doubted.” (ESV)

Some doubted?? You have got to be kidding me! Miracles, resurrection, 40 days…and some still doubted. If I were Jesus, I would have said “Okay, that’s it. I am done. I’m out of here. And this awesome scripture I am about to say – start here with the doubters.”

But that’s not what He did. He remained focused on His purpose, His calling and His message.

Doubt destroys faith. Doubt is a cancer of the soul. Doubt keeps us from being all God wants us to be. And whatever we do for God – we will always hear a voice of doubt.

This year, we have some amazing plans for KSBJ. Big plans – to do things we have never done before. And I expect – along the way, we may hear a voice or two of doubt. But like Jesus, we are going to stay focused on our purpose, our calling and our message.

I am glad we are together on this journey.

Blessings,
Tim
