Life Defining Moments: “When You Least Expect It”

Trudy and I were on the way to church last month. We live outside the city of Houston on some lightly traveled country roads. I pulled up to a red light and waited for a truck to go by. Not more than three seconds later, smash right in the back of our car and a loud banging noise. Thank God for seat belts because although we were jolted we were both okay.

The other driver was very nice and very apologetic. Thankfully, he and his passengers were okay, too. The funny thing about life defining moments is they can happen when you least expect them – even when you are doing good things. After all, Trudy and I were on the way to church! The important part is how we react when they happen.

I can’t explain why things happen, but I can tell you that there are some new people I have met because of this with whom I have an opportunity to let the hope of Jesus shine through – adjusters, collision center people, insurance companies and the other driver. These are people I would not have met before this accident.

What I have learned is God can take any situation you or I face and turn them around. He doesn’t always remove the situation, but He will always see us through it.

Genesis 50:20 “But as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” (NKJV)

Blessings,
Tim
