NGEN radio’s New FM Signal

It is with great excitement that I get to be here at NGEN radio at this special time in its history. After 34 years of asking the Lord to open doors to allow KSBJ to reach the next generation, the Lord has heard our prayer and provided us with a full powered FM radio station, 91.7 FM, that will reach the entire city. To God be the glory! What a privilege it will be to lift the banner of Jesus in Houston and reach young people right where they are, in their language, with music they love. Our mission is simple. NGEN is a radio station targeting Millennials bringing music and a message of hope, unity and love.

We are excited, but this is a giant step for us at NGEN. Our dream is to reach the masses of young people for Christ, but we know that is a challenging task. Many young people are not involved in church today. In fact, they are leaving church by the droves. A recent poll indicates that 63% of Millennials in Houston are not affiliated with a church and would not go if asked. When I come face to face with this reality, to be honest, it feels daunting. I can imagine how Joshua must have felt after Moses died when the Lord asked him to lead the Israelites across the Jordan River into the land He had promised them. What a monumental challenge. He had some big shoes to fill, and the stakes were high. I believe Joshua came face to face with the reality of whether or not this dream was going to unfold or fold up.

We are tasked with this same kind of challenge. How do we reach a generation of young people that is now the most unchurched in our nation’s history? I recently heard a favorite Bible teacher of mine ask, “How do you reach a generation that listens with its eyes, and thinks with its feelings?” What a powerful yet sobering way to describe the condition of so many young people today.

As NGEN brings the message of hope, unity and love to this world that so desperately needs it, we believe that God has the power to change their hearts and minds. My favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 2:9. “For eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered in to the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.” I believe as we answer the call to reach this next generation we will be amazed at what the Lord does. We will see the hearts of young people come back to the Lord as we partner with Him in drawing people back to Himself. Like Joshua, I believe our dreams will unfold, rather than fold up, and we will see many come to Jesus.

Will you pray with us? We know that the enemy is not happy about this new signal covering our city, and he will stop at nothing to see that it does not work. But we know we are right where God wants us to be. Thank you for your prayers and financial support to help make this dream a reality.
