Thank you for inviting others to God’s table
By Jon Hull, Sr. Director of Outreach
My pastor recently shared a message from Psalm 23 about banquets. And since we’re in a kind of “banqueting season” this time of year, I wanted to share with you what I learned!
After all of the wonderful imagery in Psalm 23 about the Lord being our shepherd, there’s a beautiful picture of Him also being our host. Think about it. God is the One who prepares a table for you and me. Because He’s a good host, He assumes the responsibility of caring for His guests.
At His table, you and I are not only provided for, we’re safe. The host of our banquet welcomes us with oil to anoint and refresh, fills our cups to overflowing, and fosters a sense of security and belonging to those He cherishes.
There is also a beautiful picture of fellowship here. To sit at God’s table is to enjoy communion with Him. God set the banquet, and now I am sitting there, enjoying His company, hospitality, and safety. When you think about it, this is amazing since, because of my sin, I was at one time estranged from God. I was once His enemy, and now, I’m seated at His table. That’s something to be thankful for!
People like you who partner with KSBJ and NGEN radio are helping us invite a world that is lost and dying to an amazing banquet. As part of our family, you’re helping make it possible for us to invite more people to the feast.
So, as you sit at your table this season thinking about all of the things you are thankful for, we want you to know that we’re sitting at our tables, thankful for you and the Host who makes it all possible!
