Until All Children Have a Home

There are so many in the foster care system that desperately need God’s love, and we’ve started partnering with others to reach children in foster care. KSBJ has teamed with faith based and child care organizations in the greater Houston area to educate, empower and engage The Church to care for our community’s orphans. Imagine if every one of the 6,000 orphans in Houston was placed in a Christian, loving home. This is an opportunity for us to join together to bring hope to children and families that God deeply loves.

The government was never intended to fulfill The Church’s responsibility to care for our community’s orphans. Not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone is called to do something. In recognizing Orphan Sunday with churches throughout the world, this year on two Sundays – November 5 and 12 – churches are encouraged to bring attention to God’s heart for the orphan and challenge us to learn what God is asking of each of us in fulfilling His command to look after orphans.

At local churches each day, resources and informational tracks will be offered by foster care community partners to assist people and answer questions about:

  • becoming a licensed adoptive/foster care parent
  • providing temporary care
  • developing a foster care ministry
  • helping address problems in foster care like aging out or sex trafficking
  • volunteering and mentoring
  • getting connected

This project is more than just about adoption or foster care. It’s about people coming together in a movement of community support to reflect God’s heart for orphans in foster care. As we reclaim our responsibility to look after defenseless children, we are excited to see what God has in store. He is orchestrating this movement to rescue children in need of hope and to raise up The Church as a refuge in offering a long term solution for hurting children to find a home.

Your prayers are important. Your gifts make it possible to begin Fostering Hope. Because KSBJ mentors radio stations around the world, we are being called upon to create a model to mentor radio stations across the nation, so children in Texas and other states can find hope and know God’s redeeming love. Begin praying to see how God wants you and your church to be a part of this life changing opportunity!

Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. - James 1:27
