Jon’s Story

Jon’s Story: A Song of Hope

Cathy and her son, Jon, are devoted fans of NGEN radio and love listening. Because of Jon’s medical problems, he goes through repeated doctor appointments and hospital visits. NGEN can go with him in these places!

Jon gets something from what he hears. The songs minister to Cathy as well, and serve as prayer reminders for her.

Watch and see the HOPE Jon has found!

Your support impacts lives like Jon’s in a positive way. When you give, you bring hope and and healing to thousands of people!

Sharathon: HOPE 2016 begins June 21st. We count on you to continue the mission of spreading HOPE. Will you prayerfully consider pledging a monthly gift right now, so that we can start strong?

And if you already donate monthly, please consider an increase in your month-by-month support or a generous one-time gift over and above your monthly commitment.

KSBJ Mentoring Reaches Slovakia

KSBJ Mentoring Helps Radio 7 in Bratislava, Slovakia

KSBJ Mentoring exists to help other Christian radio stations reach their communities for Christ. Our team works alongside their staff to discover creative ways to more fully engage listeners. Recently, our Mentoring Director, Jon Hull, was blessed to take a trip to Bratislava, Slovakia to mentor the station Radio 7. Here are highlights from Jon’s trip:

Day 1
As I shared concepts with some of the key leadership today, I could tell that it wasn’t resonating as I’d hoped. Although I knew it was helpful info, their faces told me that they weren’t seeing it. Finally, Gabika spoke up and said (nervously) “you don’t understand - that won’t work with Slovak people. They are not that open.” I am so thankful she had the courage to say something. Because she did, we were able to 1) Back up, 2) Find out how we could change parameters to fit the cultural contextualizations, and 3) Explore ways that we can “re-train the culture.” That opened amazing opportunities for discussion, and I believe that the Lord will open even more doors.

Day 2
Day two of this mentoring visit began with a time of devotion with the Trans World Radio team. Hearing stories and testimonials of God’s provision in the lives of missionary families always encourages me. I was able to share that story today with the Radio 7 finance team as we discussed some financial challenges they are facing. I asked how the team was feeling about this and the stress was palpable. I told them the story, and reminded them of other unexpected provisions in their History (as well as the amazing financial strides they had made in just one year.) When the Children of Israel encountered God in a miraculous way, they were instructed to erect stone monuments, so that years later whenever someone would see one of those monuments they would ask about the significance and be reminded of God’s provision. Today in Slovakia, we erected a few - so that years from now, when the staff of Radio 7 is mentoring another radio station in another part of the world, they can remind that crew of God’s faithful promises.

Day 3
Today wraps up the final day of training here in Bratislava. At the end of the training today, I was presented with two very special things. The team gave me a beautiful painting of a scene in the foothills of the Low-Tatra mountains. For a guy who loves Colorado, it was a beautiful sight. Secondly, the team prayed for me, for KSBJ, and for each of the radio stations we mentor. It is a humbling experience to be prayed for by these people. Their love for Christ, and depth of feeling cuts through any language barrier.

Your support makes our mentoring relationships with other radio stations possible. Thank you for helping us connect more people to God through radio stations across the country and around the world!

Sharathon: HOPE 2016

Sharathon: HOPE 2016

The countdown to Sharathon: HOPE 2016 has begun! It’s coming June 21st – 24th, but you don’t have to wait until then to give, we invite you to share hope and help reach more lives for Christ now:

Last year, we challenged you to take a step and change a story…and you allowed God to use you in such a huge way! Thanks to your support, the message of Christ is now reaching new places in our community, the nation and the world! And we believe an even greater impact can be made in 2016. As we have prayed about the coming year, here are a few things God has placed on our hearts to continue and expand our ministry impact to reach more people with the love and hope Christ offers:

  • The Prayer & Care Line Ministry will continue its partnership with Focus on the Family offering free Christian counseling but will be enhanced through a Care Call ministry utilizing our prayer volunteers to follow up with those who ask for prayer.
  • NGEN’s impact on the millennials of our city will continue to increase through the new full powered FM station blanketing all of Houston as well as NGEN’s increased presence in the community through school assemblies, youth events, concerts, partnerships with churches, and more.
  • The Prayer Station Ministry will go into new places including the Special Olympics, senior living centers and, in partnership with the Star of Hope, the homeless to bring hope to more people reminding them God’s presence is always near.

Your gifts make a difference. And with KSBJ’s Sharathon: HOPE 2016 just around the corner, we invite you to help spread hope and reach even more lives for Christ. Thank you for partnering with us so that God’s message of salvation, grace, and love can continue to transform lives!

Greg’s Story

Greg’s Story: A Message of Hope

Within weeks, Greg lost his father, and his wife left. He felt so alone and hopeless – until God transformed his life through KSBJ.

Today, thanks to God working through Love That Sticks, Greg found encouragement and, ultimately, love. Today he is happily remarried. And he is growing in his relationship with God every day!

Watch and see what happened…

Your support changes lives like Greg’s forever.

And when you give at Sharathon: HOPE 2016, you will bring hope and and healing to thousands more!

Sharathon: Hope 2016 begins June 21st. Will you prayerfully consider pledging a monthly gift right now, so that we can start strong?

And if you already donate monthly, please consider an increase in your month-by-month support or a generous one-time gift over and above your monthly commitment.

We’re counting on you!

Layne and Leilanie’s Story

Layne & Leilanie’s Story: A Word of Hope

Because of Leilanie’s severe autism, she couldn’t speak. But she loves music! So every afternoon her father, Layne, turned on KSBJ, and they listened together.

One day, a miracle happened. Watch and see!

HOPE.

One small word can make all the difference. That’s why with every song we play, every story we share, every Scripture we read . . . we are reaching out with God’s HOPE and healing!

Sharathon: HOPE 2016 begins June 21st.

Right now, we are counting on listeners like you to give generously, whether you decide to sign up to give monthly, increase your monthly gift, or provide a special, one-time gift today.

Through your giving, a word of hope will be shared with people across our community and even around the world!

Mother’s Day 2016

I love you, Mom

She’s the very first one who teaches our hearts what love means. Before we have the words to talk about it (or even understand it) we feel it from her. She’s our first love! Even though one day isn’t nearly enough to let her know how we feel, let’s try. Let’s say “I Love You, Mom!”

Join KSBJ this week as we share some of the lighter moments of joy, fun and laughter that moms bring to our lives. From silly mom stories, to “mom-ism’s” (those crazy texts that only a mom can send), “mom logic”, and memories of mom that make you laugh and appreciate the joy that she’s brought to your life. There were bound to be some smiles involved! After all, mom had to have a sense of humor…she was raising you!

She’s brought love and laughter to your life, so tell her how you feel. “I Love you, Mom.”

Pray-A-Prayer

Pray-A-Prayer

Prayer is one of the most intimate and powerful things that we will ever do. Yet most of us feel intimidated when we hear other people pray. They sound so eloquent and we tend to feel as though our prayers won’t be answered if we don’t pray the same way. But, it is the simple act of faith that caused you to ask God to intervene that gets His attention.

Over the next few weeks, we at KSBJ want to pray boldly alongside you. We want to encourage everyone to pray, knowing, that no matter how we pray, God listens.

If you’re looking to go deeper in your prayer life, or know someone who could benefit from a prayer guide, we invite you to download our “Everyday Moments With God Prayer Journal.” The journal features daily prayers, scriptures and journaling space for you to write down whatever is on your heart. Simply click the image to the right to download your copy.

We’d also love to pray with you. You can call into our KSBJ Care & Prayer Line at 281-652-5555 and have one of our volunteers pray with you. Or submit your prayer request online to a KSBJ prayer volunteer. Our KSBJ family of listeners would also love to pray with you! Post your request on PrayerWorks, our online prayer community, and watch fellow listeners join you in prayer!

2016 BP MS 150

(IMPORTANT UPDATE 4/15: Please note that Day 2 (Sunday) of the 2016 BP MS 150 Ride has been cancelled due to severe weather. Day 1 (Saturday) is still continuing as planned at this time.)

KSBJ Team HOPE is geared up to be the voice of hope connecting people to God in the 2016 BP MS 150 on April 16-17, 2016. Our mission is to live up to our name and bring the hope we have in Jesus Christ to all those we encounter before, during and after the BP MS150 event.

KSBJ will not only be riding in the #BPMS150, you can also pray for us as we work to make an impact through this powerful ministry opportunity. We will be hosting the Hope:Recharged Concert featuring Danny Gokey and a jersey contest for all BP MS150 participants in LaGrange where all riders will gather at the end of Day One. We are thrilled to be participating in such a huge way this year!

Please keep the riders in prayer this weekend! Cheering on riders from 1 of the 3 starting lines - Tully Stadium, Rhodes Stadium and Waller Stadium, along the route or at the finish line is a great way to show your support! Look for KSBJ team members like Tim McDermott and Johnny B as they ride with 120 other KSBJ Team Hope riders!

Friday - MS150

The Comeback

The Comeback

Living in Houston, Texas, it’s difficult to escape the impact of the oil and gas crisis. Locally, over 50,000 jobs have been lost in the oil and gas industry alone and this ripple effect has been felt across other industries, as well. And while it’s natural to feel discouraged in such a devastating time, we believe God uses our setback as opportunities for comebacks. His Word says He’ll direct our steps as we trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6). That’s why KSBJ invites you to share your “comeback” story to encourage others, pray for those who’ve been affected by job loss, and believe God has a comeback plan for Houston!

If you’re seeking employment or know someone who is, we invite you to download our “Comeback Toolkit.” The toolkit features resources, interview and resume building tips, and how you can serve someone during their “comeback” season. Simply click the image to the right to download your copy.

We’d also love to pray with you during this time. Call our KSBJ Care & Prayer Line at 281-652-5555 or submit your prayer request online to a KSBJ prayer volunteer. Our KSBJ family of listeners would also love to pray with you! Post your request on PrayerWorks, our online prayer community, and watch fellow listeners join you in prayer!

1 Church 1 Day

1 Church 1 Day

Imagine what could happen if we prayed together continuously for our community! Today in Humble, Atascocita, and Kingwood a continuous prayer meeting has begun with the partnership of KSBJ, The Great Commission Coalition, and 31 local churches - it’s called 1 Church 1 Day, where each church commits to pray on a specific day of the the month. The 3rd Thursday of every month, KSBJ participates in this incredible prayer meeting and we’re asking you to pray with us!

Our prayers focus on our local area and more specifically, 7 “spheres of influence”: The Church, The Family, Government, Media, Businesses, Education, and The Medical Field. You can join us in lifting up the ministry of KSBJ, as well. Our desire is to have continuous prayer not only in our local area, but for this initiative to spread to all communities in the Greater Houston Area and beyond!

If you believe that through prayer God can and will do amazing things, join us as we pray for 1 Church 1 Day by signing up for our KSBJ Prayer Team. Simply click to register as a KSBJ Volunteer and then select the KSBJ Prayer Team option.

New FM Signal for NGEN

A Dream Come True!

For 34 years, we’ve dreamed of a second full powered FM station covering all of Houston to reach a younger generation within our area. Praise God, now that dream has come true! Because of faithful giving listeners, God opened the door and provided a rare opportunity for us to buy a signal.

After months of hard work, we’ve reached an agreement with the University of Houston to purchase KUHA - 91.7 FM, a full powered non-commercial station. And by this summer, NGEN radio, our sister station for the “now generation,” will be blanketing our city with a signal covering all of Houston - that’s the potential to reach over 4 million people!

Why Now?

Millennials are leaving the Church at staggering rates and statistics say if we don’t reach them for Christ by the age of 18, only 6% will find Christ as an adult. We believe NGEN radio has all of the ingredients to offer hope and lead the millennial generation closer to Jesus starting with Houston, and eventually reaching the country and the world!

When can I hear NGEN on the new signal?

We’ll announce an official launch date soon! Click the map below to see the areas of town the new signal will cover. For the time being, you can still tune in to NGEN on all existing signals, the app and web player.

Will you join us in prayer?

We are so excited about what God has done! It’s time to celebrate and thank God for this blessing. Will you join with us in prayer for this station?

“God, we are so grateful for this wonderful blessing. We praise You, not just for what You have done, but what You are going to do through NGEN in our city. Give us the millennials of our city for Your kingdom. Let it be a tool that brings them closer to Jesus and offers hope. This is Your station, and we dedicate it to You. Use it for Your glory and Your kingdom. Amen.”

Learning That God Listens

Learning That God Listens

KSBJ is proud to be a station for the whole family. Life-transforming music and ministry plays an important role in the lives of KSBJ families.

How do we know? Each week we hear encouraging stories from families, just like this one from Veronica. She and her husband listen to KSBJ with their children, Matthew and Vivianna. Veronica wrote to tell us how the positive messaging from KSBJ has taught her son an invaluable lesson about God.

On the first day of school after Christmas break, the family’s beloved cat darted outside and ran away. Veronica looked for Frosty all day, and when Matthew got home from school, they looked for hours and posted fliers in the neighborhood. The kids went to bed that night heartbroken. Veronica shares what happened the second day:

“Our urgency to find her increased due to the incoming Arctic Blast. That evening, we [put] milk and cat food on the porch, [as well as] a box with a blanket. And the children added a piece of clothing to the box in hopes that the scent would help Frosty find her way home.

“As we were getting the children ready for bed, they were both very upset. So we snuggled up in Vivianna’s bed, Frosty’s favorite bedtime spot. Matthew asked if he could lead in prayer; he is just 6 years old. He prayed, ‘God, please place Frosty in a protective bubble to keep her safe and guide her home. Thank you, God, for everything we have, especially each other. Amen.’

“At 2:00 a.m., as my husband was leaving for work, who was in the box? Frosty! Matthew is now sharing his story of how God listens!

Veronica and her husband say KSBJ has taught Matthew to go to God with his needs, because our God is listening. The gifts of KSBJ friends like you made these life lessons possible.

What a privilege to partner with you to give positive Christian music and ministry to Veronica and her family! We are greatly encouraged by this sweet story, and we want you to know the difference your gifts are making each and every day!

Kingdom Family Conference

Kingdom Family Conference

with Dr. Tony Evans, Priscilla Shirer and Anthony Evans

Click here for February 18th (College Station) Event Details | February 19th (Houston) - SOLD OUT

For the first time in Houston, Dr. Tony Evans (featured twice daily on KSBJ in the segment: Two Minutes with Tony), will be joined with his daughter, New York Times best selling author and lead actress from War Room, Priscilla Shirer, and his son, NBC’s The Voice alumnus and worship leader, Anthony Evans!

The Kingdom Family Conference is an evening designed to inspire and encourage men, women and their families to pursue their God-given design and find purpose in fulfilling their destiny as a true representative of The Kingdom Of God. The evening will be full of worshipful music as well as carrying a strong emphasis on the importance of prayer in our lives.

When asked what she believes God has shown her personally about praying specifically and strategically, Priscilla Shirer answered:

“He has shown me that taking the time to do it [pray] is not a waste of time. I think that sometimes we’re kind of trying to hurry through our devotional life or hurry through our prayer time, and we’re just trying to finish so that we can check something off on a box that says we did it. When we really pour ourselves in and devote ourselves to prayer, then what happens is we end up actually reaping more benefit than we even had planned to. So the Lord softens our heart, He tenderizes our soul, He allows us to become more sensitive to Him in other areas of our life. When we go to our prayer closet, and we started out praying for someone else or about that person, or how this circumstance can change, we find ourselves being enriched in terms of God, Himself, saying to us, ‘well, actually, here’s how you need to be changed, here’s what you need to do and by my spirit, I’m going to empower you so that you can.’”

We hope you and your family will join us for the Kingdom Family Conference!

You Transform Lives

You Transform Lives When You Give!

Have you ever wondered if God was listening to you? Three years ago Sammantha did.

Sammantha had not been living a wholesome life, which left her feeling lost and discouraged. One day she saw a KSBJ bumper sticker on another car that proclaimed, “God listens.” Sammantha decided to see what that might mean:

“So I turned it to the station, and it was playing ‘Strong Enough.’ When I heard that song I just started crying. Right then and there, I prayed for God to change my life. A few weeks later when my boyfriend and I were talking, he said he wanted to stop going out for drinks and start living for God—and I told him, ‘Me too!’ ”

That’s when everything changed for Sammantha and her boyfriend. They began reading the Bible, praying together, and telling other people about God.

The gifts of KSBJ friends like you made this life-transforming impact possible. And Samantha is grateful:

“We got married going on three months now. I just want to let everyone out there know God is good if you just turn to Him in the good times and bad times. He will always be there for you. God really listens!”

You Can Let More People Know That God Listens
That’s the power of positive Christian music and ministry! And you can bring God’s joy and peace into even more lives with your gift now.

Will you give today to make a life-transforming difference for people in your community and neighborhood?

Please give today.

Debby’s Story

“God is my Healer, Freedom, and Victory”: Debby’s Story

Every one of us has come face to face with our failures in life. Our choices weigh on us, which is why we need the hope that comes from the Gospel. The hope-filled music of KSBJ is just one way God reminds us all of the mercy found in Jesus.

Big Daddy Weave’s new song, “My Story,” has been especially helpful to our listeners. Debby recently wrote of the blessing it has been in her life:

“Six years ago, I made the choice to become something I am not proud of in the least. I was unfaithful to my husband. But I am not named by my sins, nor my past, for Jesus has made me free from that burden. . . . My story does not end there, for as beautiful as my Savior’s love and grace was for me, my dear and wonderful husband also extended that same love and grace… complete pardon and forgiveness. He has extended such patience and help to me through these six years… as there have been real struggles to overcome.”

Debby says she is grateful for God’s mercy toward her in the gift of her husband, as well as the gift of KSBJ music. Every time she hears “My Story,” she is reminded:

“His grace and mercy cleansed me from the inside out. He made me a NEW creation in Him. He forgave me and did NOT leave me where I was. He restored me to wholeness and wellness. I praise Him always!!!”

Music like this is making a powerful difference in Debby’s life. Isn’t it amazing how the right song can impact our lives so powerfully in the moment of need?

Donors Make It Possible
Thanks to faithful donors, KSBJ brings the transforming power of Christian music to hundreds of thousands every day.

Debby and other listeners tell us songs like “My Story” send hope and new strength into their lives. And it’s all made possible by the generosity of friends like you!

Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

The following KSBJ Educational Foundation Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inerrant Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning love, truth, morality, and proper conduct, is the final source of all that we believe. 1

All board members, employees and volunteers collectively and individually agree they believe in each of the following statements:

  • God, who is Himself Truth and speaks truth only, has inspired His Holy Scripture. Holy Scripture, being God’s own word, is the infallible, divine authority in all matters upon which it touches; it is to be believed, as God’s’ instruction, in all that it affirms; obeyed, as God’s command, in all that it requires; and embraced, as God’s pledge, in all that it promises. We are persuaded that to deny the authority, trustworthiness, and inerrancy of Scripture is to set aside the witness of Jesus Christ and of the Holy Spirit.2
  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.3
  • People are created in the image and after the likeness of God,4 but, as a consequence of sin, are separated from God. Because we have all sinned, we are all in need of salvation.5
  • The good news of the Gospel is that God sent His Son to become man and to die for our sins and to be raised again that we might be redeemed. We believe in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church, and in His personal return in power and glory.6
  • We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Such faith is essential for salvation.7
  • As a result of our redemption, we are called to pursue holiness,8 to live following the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and to grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.9 In doing so, we are called to follow what Jesus identified as the two greatest commandments: to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves.10 Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we, as Christians, are empowered to live a godly life which includes repentance of sin,11 as defined in the Bible and as historically interpreted, and not as interpreted by contemporary culture.12 We recognize that we will nevertheless sin13 and that we all need to continue to grow and develop our relationship with Christ. But because God loves us, has adopted us as His children, and Jesus acts as our intercessor and advocate, God offers us forgiveness and continuing grace and mercy.14
  • Christians are called to love everyone. As a result, Christians should examine themselves first in order to avoid hypercritically judging others by a standard to which they do not hold themselves. Additionally, the Bible commands Christians to hold individuals who claim to be Christians to a higher standard of obedience to God’s Word than those who do not claim to be Christians.15
  • We believe that God has blessed people with the institution of marriage for His glory and to reflect the union of Jesus and the church.16 God established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive covenant relationship between a man and a woman as God biologically created them male and female at birth. Therefore, all intimate sexual activity outside this biblically defined marriage relationship is not in accordance with God’s plan and therefore sin.17 We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one’s biological gender is not in accordance with God’s plan and therefore sin.18
  • God created us to live forever. Those who place their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior will be raised to go to heaven. Those who do not will be eternally separated from Him.19
  • Believers in our Lord Jesus Christ are united in the Holy Spirit.20

  1. The verses listed to support each statement do not exhaust all the Bible has to say about each belief. They are a representative sample of key passages in God’s inerrant Word that support each statement. The verses in each footnote are listed in the order they appear in the Bible.
  2. Ps. 119:160; Prov. 30:5; Jn. 10:35; 17:17; 1 Cor. 2:13; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21

Take Care of You

Take Care of You

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reminding us the importance of staying healthy. The Bible says to love God with all your heart and then follows up with a second commandment – to love your neighbor as you love yourself. But how well do we really do this?

The first way to equip yourself to serve others is by taking care of you! This month, take time to build a healthier you. Schedule the doctors’ visits you’ve had on your to-do list and ultimately make a commitment to living a healthier lifestyle, because after all, taking care of yourself will allow you to effectively love and serve those around you!

Independent from the national branch, Komen Houston chooses the partners that receive funding each year, and because Planned Parenthood has never needed to request funding from Komen Houston, the affiliate has never needed to make the decision to deny or approve funding for Planned Parenthood. In the event that Komen Houston ever needs to make this decision, funding would only be provided for services related to breast cancer screenings and general breast health.

If you believe that through prayer God can and will do amazing things, the KSBJ Prayer Team is an incredible way for you to be involved in intercessory prayer. Since being formed in September 2014, the KSBJ Prayer Team has grown to include thousands of people who pray in unity over the “7 mountains of influence” in our culture. The 7 mountains, or spheres, of influence are: The Church, The Family, Government, Media, Businesses, Education, and The Medical Field.

Every other month, our Prayer Department will email an updated list with prayer points for each of the 7 areas, as well as, prayer points for how you can pray for the ministry of KSBJ. We encourage you to keep this list in your Bible, on your refrigerator, computer or mobile device for easy access! During a time of local or national emergency, we also invite the KSBJ Prayer Team to join us in asking for God’s divine intervention. Imagine tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, of Christians being unified in prayer on a regular basis. Imagine what God can do!

Once you are a member of the KSBJ Prayer Team, you’ll receive information on how can you serve in our Prayer Department’s other areas of ministry, like our KSBJ Concert Prayer Team, the KSBJ Prayer and Care Line, and our KSBJ Prayer Stations. Thank you for committing to pray with us!

Love That Sticks Back To School

Love That Sticks: Back-To-School Edition

Transitioning the family back to school can feel hectic, to say the least! Trying to find a “new normal” routine for your family is a BIG task, and to be honest, balancing schedules and helping the kids adjust to a new environment can leave us feeling overwhelmed. So between all the new hustle and bustle, let’s encourage each other by remembering God’s presence and spreading His unconditional love – the only kind of LOVE THAT STICKS! This season, help us blanket the City of Houston with Love That Sticks: Back-To-School Edition!

If you have a student, teacher, school staff, bus drive, crossing guard, etc. in your life, stick a “Love That Sticks” note of encouragement on their lunch bag, locker, desk, notebook or binder – your creativity is the limit!

Here’s what you do:

Grab a pen and sticky note, write a positive message on it, and put it in places for people to find! Make sure to write #LoveThatSticks and ksbj.org on it to point people back to our station and learn more about God’s real love! Some ideas of things to write:

  • “You are beautiful”
  • “God loves you”
  • Bible verse like “John 3:16”

Then pray that the person finding the note will be encouraged and it will have a positive impact on their day!

Places you could leave them:

  • on an teacher’s desk
  • on a locker
  • on the bathroom mirror
  • on a lunchbox
  • on the school bus

Love That Sticks notepads will also be available at Houston area Randall’s to help you blanket the city with God’s love. And, we want to hear from you! Share your Love That Sticks experience with us by calling and telling us if you posted a note or found a note around town. Take a picture of the notes you see and share them with us using #LoveThatSticks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Plus, follow our board #LoveThatSticks on Pinterest, too!

KSBJ Blood Drive 2015

KSBJ Blood Drive 2015

Let’s face it. Between summer camps, summer leagues and summer vacation, summer “break” can be one of the busiest times of year for you and your family. With your schedule jam-packed, there’s naturally little time to think about your community or helping others. But helping others takes less time than you think! In an hour or less - the time it takes to shuttle your kids to and from camp or a sports practice - become a vital part of your community by donating in the KSBJ Blood Drive 2015. With just one donation, you can help save as many as three lives!

How You Can Help:

The summer months are a critical season for blood donations, as donations tend to decline during this time of year. You can get involved by joining us to donate on August 5th or August 14th at a site near you. Through our partnership with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, you have the opportunity to give at one of the locations below. And as a special thank you for donating, we’d like to bless you on-site with a complimentary t-shirt!

To help strengthen your family we’re presenting the Family Check-up. It’s an assortment of activities, devotions, and ideas that you can do to spend time together, and with God. Much like a doctor checks your vitals to ensure you’re physically healthy, here are few areas you can use as guidelines to improve the spiritual health of your family! By doing the items in our Family Check-up, you’ll reconnect, grow, and actually get to know one another and God in a real and deeper way.

But it’s easy for families to slip into a routine of having short chats using technology, instead of having heartfelt conversations. Here are some great resources to help your family break free from the bondage of technology and better value your relationship with God and each other.

Ears - What is your family listening to?

It’s important to ensure good things are filling your family’s ears so that good thoughts fill their minds! If your family needs a jump start in what it’s listening to, consider taking our 30 Day Challenge. You and your loved ones will experience the joy that God puts in our hearts through Christian music. If your kids also enjoy listening to pop and hip-hop, check out our sister station, NGEN radio, for fun, upbeat songs all with positive Christian messages.

Exercise - Help your family get off the couch and get moving!

There’s nothing like spending time together with your loved ones and experiencing new adventures! Here are some activities below to help you get out and about with your family:

  1. Have a blast with your family and KB & Blanca at NGEN’s Boomin 2015 on July 21st at Discovery Green! Click for details.

TobyMac- This Is Not A Test Tour

TobyMac- This Is Not A Test Tour

with Britt Nicole & Colton Dixon

Click here for October 2nd Tour Details | Click here for October 3rd Tour Details

If ever there was an artist wired for live concerts, it’s TobyMac. From his early days with dcTalk to his very first solo album, Momentum, TobyMac has worked hard to inspire his audience with words of conviction, hope, empowerment, and the redemption found in Jesus Christ.

“That’s the way you get your music out there and every year we’re doing 100 shows or more. The most amazing feeling for any artist/songwriter is to take a song that came from your heart and have the audience sing every word along with you. That is a sweet humbling moment.” – Toby Mac

The tour title “This Is Not A Test” comes as a reminder to make every moment count. Toby began collecting concepts for the tour’s namesake album by reflecting on real life experiences and important themes such as loving each other well and the richness of diversity.

This October he’s heading to Houston with Britt Nicole and Colton Dixon for two nights of incredible performances and meaningful moments. We’d love for you to joins us for an evening (or two!) at the Berry Center!

    Celebrating Independence Day

    4th of July is Here!

America’s OWN holiday, the 4th of July should be one of the most important and fun holidays that we celebrate. In the Bible, John 10:10 tells us, “Through Jesus coming and giving up His life for us, we can have and enjoy life – to the full. We can have it in abundance. Everything of Christ’s nature is available to us. Every good gift and blessing we can know when we are in relationship with Jesus. God wants us to enjoy His creation.”

Join KSBJ this year as we help you celebrate Independence Day. KSBJ will remind you to celebrate Freedom. Not only the Freedom that was fought for and won, but also the Freedom Christ gave us. Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

    Resources for Your Holiday Plans

    Kingdom Prayer

What Can I Do? Pray Now. God listens.

With the recent events in Baltimore and Nepal, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and a little helpless, like things are simply out of our control. So what can we do? We can pray – pray for God’s will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven. That’s what “Kingdom prayer” is all about. Kingdom praying is when we focus beyond the needs and desires of our immediate surroundings (ourselves, our families, and our community) and ask God for His desires to take place in the world.

You can join us right now in praying for Nepal and the earthquake that has destroyed lives and property. You can ask for God’s will to be done in this nation and also specifically pray for:

    • The population of over 8 million people who have been affected in some way by the quake. Pray for those who have lost loved ones, or who are dealing with injuries.
    • First responders and the search and rescue efforts.
    • Families to be reunited, for those who are lost to be found.
    • Overwhelming love to be seen through the Christian agencies that are responding. Pray that food, water, and shelter can all be delivered as it’s needed, as some of the areas hit are very remote.
    • The tragedy to not cause hearts to be shaken, but will cause spirits to be rebuilt.

You can also join us right now in praying for Baltimore and the civil unrest there. You can ask for God’s will to be done in this situation and also specifically pray for:

    • Peace. God’s Kingdom is peaceful. (Romans 14:17)
    • Change in this country and that we can learn to listen and understand one another. God’s Kingdom is Civil. (Romans 12:18, Philippians 2:3)
    • Truth. Pray that people will listen to the truth, and will respond peacefully. God’s Kingdom seeks the truth. (John 18:37)

Please join us in prayer for all those involved in the BP MS150 especially the leadership as they continue to coordinate logistics and ensure the safety of all those involved.

    Pray Now. God listens.

    Pray Now. God listens.

Prayer is essential for all seasons of life. It’s needed in tough situations that feel like a never-ending dreary day and in times of joy that feel like a beautiful summer breeze. But, although we believe prayer is powerful and effective, it’s mysterious enough to keep many us from daily experiencing the God we love and serve. That’s why we invite you to join us this month as we concentrate on strengthening our prayer lives. This journey of prayer may not transform your life’s showers to flowers, but it will bring heaven to Earth by revealing the reality of His presence!

    Why Pray?

    • Prayer develops you personally - When prayer becomes a focus in your life, it changes you both internally and externally. As you regularly communicate with God, your relationship with Him will grow. As your relationship with Him grows stronger, you’ll start to see a positive change in the way you think and act!
    • Prayer develops you relationally – Prayer can also strengthen your relationships with others. You can pray for them and they can pray for you. A genuine person of prayer is invaluable to their family, friends and community!
    • God listens. – Simply put, God wants you to pray to Him! He wants to develop a personal relationship with you and not only does He hear our prayers, but He always answers them.

    How to Pray

Prayer is simply talking to God in your own way and inviting His intervention into every aspect of your life. Join us in praying for a stronger personal relationship with God and the advancement of His kingdom in hearts and the world.

One model of prayer you can use is represented through the acronym P-R-A-Y which stands for Praise, Repent, Ask and Yield. Learn more about the P-R-A-Y model here.

You can also click the images below for simple prayers you can pray with and for your kids from our Back-to-School Toolkit, and a breakdown of the Prayer Wheel which is comprised of twelve five-minute prayer focuses to help you pray for a full hour (From the book “The Hour that Changes the World” by Dick Eastman).

    Join us in Prayer

This year, National Day of Prayer is on May 7th and you’re invited to a special city-wide prayer effort in Katy called “National Day of Prayer.” This is free event is all about praying together for things that matter to all of us - ourselves, our families and our neighbors. Join us as we worship with All Sons & Daughters and pray for God to move in our lives and in the lives of those around us! Click here for National Day of Prayer event details.

We believe prayer works, so you can also join us to request prayer & pray with others! Click to join our Online Prayer Community, PrayerWorks.

He is Risen, Hope is Here

He is Risen, Hope is Here

On a Friday, Jesus’ followers felt hopeless and defeated when they saw His body on the cross. We experience similar emotions each day through the headlines, financial stress, health issues and family struggles. But Jesus wasn’t defeated. He has Risen and His hope is here. And through this work on the cross, you have victory. Join KSBJ as we reflect on the meaning of Easter, walk through the events of Holy Week and celebrate Christ’s resurrection, a moment that gave us the greatest hope of all.

Journey with us through Holy Week

Text HOLYWEEK15 to 51555 to follow along with us each day as we remember the events of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Texts will begin March 29th! Be sure and check out the great timeline below if you would like more information. Plus during Holy Week, we’ll also have the KSBJ Prayer Lines fully staffed with volunteers ready to pray with and encourage you! Call 281-446-5725 to receive prayer.

    Easter Witness Cross

Since He is Risen, show you have hope by placing an Easter Witness Cross in your front yard. For more details, click here. You can also get creative by drawing a cross on the back window of your car with the words “He is Risen, Hope is Here” inside it. Simply use a window marker, liquid shoe polish, or soap - all wash off easily. To get your little ones involved, download and print out the Easter Cross Coloring Sheet below!

    Praying for Mark Hall

    #PrayingforMark

We received news that dear our friend Mark Hall is facing cancer. You know Mark’s voice from his ministry as lead singer of Casting Crowns. Mark went through surgery to remove the cancer Wednesday, March 11th, and praise God, he is now in recovery. The doctors said everything went very well and it was actually probably the fastest they’ve completed the procedure. Let’s continue praying for healing and peace for Mark and his loved ones as he recovers. Below is a special message from Mark to you. Thank you for praying with us.

Click here to join us in praying for Mark.

    Hey Casting Crowns Family,

    I would appreciate your prayers.

Doctors found a solid mass in my right kidney about a week ago. They are 90% sure it’s cancer and they are going to remove the entire kidney Wednesday, March 11th. They believe the cancer is contained in the kidney, which is also a great hope. They will know more once it is out and Pathology can see it.

I’ll be in recovery for a month or a little longer because of the surgery. Please pray for healing and for God’s peace for my family.

    Praising Him in This Storm

    It Starts With You

30 Day Challenge: It Starts With You!

Writing out your New Year’s resolutions and goals? Here’s a couple we want to help you keep and maintain: improve your life as well as the lives of people around you.

It starts with you! The key to changing your life lies in your decision to strengthen your relationship with God. That’s why we encourage you to make better choices in the new year by choosing things that bring you closer to Him. Allow God to speak to you and draw closer to Him by listening to uplifting music, God’s Word, and positive messages on KSBJ.

    Take the 30 Day Challenge

The 30 Day Challenge is about tuning out the distractions that keep our minds from focusing on God—it’s about listening to music that focuses on life from God’s perspective—for a month, and then seeing the positive changes in our own lives—and in the lives of the people around us. Take the 30 Day Challenge by listening to nothing but Christian music on KSBJ, for 30 days. Use #KSBJ30DC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share with us how the Challenge has impacted your life.

We’d also love to send you emails of encouragement throughout your 30 Day Challenge and pray for you, too. Sign up to receive our 30 Day Challenge emails.

    Unashamed

    Unashamed

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”

What does it mean to “live life unashamed?” Living unashamed is about sharing Jesus, and showing Jesus to others. As Christians, we are called to boldly display our faith. Over the next couple weeks, we invite you to join us in living Unashamed. Here’s how your family can get involved:

See You at the Pole (SYATP)

Your kids can join you in living Unashamed by participating in SYATP at their school on September 24th. This year’s theme is Never Stop Praying, following Paul’s passage on the armor of God where he challenges and encourages Christ followers to stand strong in the Lord and be His representatives in sharing the Gospel.

All around the globe, students will gather at flagpoles to pray for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. Learn more about See You at the Pole and ways to get involved.

Our KSBJ on the Street team would also love to meet your kids at local See You at the Pole locations. Click below to learn which SYATPs we’ll be attending and tell us about your SYATP experience by using the hashtags #KSBJflagpole and #neverstoppraying.

    Share Your Story with Us

    • Tell us how you live life unashamed for Christ and your story could be shared on-air! Simply call our studio line at (281) 446-5725, Option 7.
    • Show us how you’re living unashamed by using the hashtag #Unashamed on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

    Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls

Back-to-school season can be hectic for kids and families, but for some children, it’s a reminder of not having enough—not having enough money for basic school clothes, like shoes.

A simple pair of shoes may not seem like a big deal, but it can make a BIG difference! There are many children in the Houston area who are living in poverty and need a new pair of shoes to start the school year. That’s why KSBJ and Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls are collecting new athletic shoes during the month of August.

Your gifts of new pairs of shoes will show children the love of Jesus and help them walk in class with confidence during the new school year. You will let them know they are special and remind them they are not forgotten.

    Here’s How You Can Help

While you’re out and about this back-to-school season, pick-up a pair of new athletic shoes to bless a child in the Houston area! We’re collecting athletic shoes in sizes Youth 1 through Adult 9. Donated shoes will go to children served by the Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls programs in the Houston area and if that need is met, shoes will go to children in need in surrounding areas.

When you are ready to drop off your new pair of shoes, you can visit:

    • Local Drop Off Locations: Visit a LifeWay Christian Store or South Main Baptist Church during the month of August to drop off a pair of new shoes and bless a child. Click to view a map of shoe drop off locations.
    • The Shoe Drive with KSBJ On the Street on August 16th: You can also come by the Buckner Aldine Family Hope Center on Saturday, August 16th to drop off new shoes, write an encouraging note to the child who will receive them, and visit with KSBJ on the Street and Johnny B! Click below to view event details.

    Equipping Parents

    Equipping Parents

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. -Proverbs 22:6

If you’re a parent, you probably know that it can be a challenge to really, effectively, share your faith with your children. That’s why we’re here to help! Dr. Bill Maier, our own psychologist and family expert on the KSBJ Morning Show, has put together a “Faith and Family” guide with ways parents can communicate spiritual truths to their children. Download your free copy below.

Listen All Week Long for More Helpful Tips

One of the best ways for parents to guide their children into spiritual maturity is by helping them to make wise decisions about what they allow into their head and heart. So tune in all this week to hear artists from our sister station, NGEN radio, as they share how God uses their music to communicate living out your faith to the next generation. Some of these artists can also share their faith directly with your kids at NGEN’s FREE concert series BOOMIN at Discovery Green on July 22nd and July 29th. It’s fun for the whole family! Star of Hope Mission Toiletry Drive

Star of Hope Mission Summer Toiletry Drive: May 27th - June 10th

You can do something to help take care of Houston’s homeless this summer by donating toiletries to the Star of Hope Mission. In the summer, when the homeless population increases and Star of Hope needs the most help, support decreases because folks are in vacation mode – not thinking of the homeless. Homelessness is not seasonal. The Star of Hope needs help all year round and has a constant need for toiletries. This summer Star of Hope is again expecting a record number of homeless men, women and children to be sleeping on their floors waiting for a room in a shelter already at full capacity. Your donation of toiletry items this June is a small way to make a BIG difference in a life.

Donated items can be individual or packaged in a quart size zip lock bag. Most needed includes:

    • Travel Size Deodorant for Men and Women
    • Travel size Bar Soap
    • Comb / Brush
    • Tooth brush and Tooth Paste
    • Razors
    • Shaving Cream
    • Baby Powder

Star of Hope donation bins will be in the six area LifeWay Book Stores, two of The Star of Hope and KSBJ on the Street locations:

    LIFEWAY STORES

    1. Fondren Square II Center, 7539 Southwest Freeway, 77074
    2. Willowbrook Court - 17776 Tomball Parkway, 77064

    Find Me Around Town

You’ve played Where’s Waldo; now the question is where are Johnny B and Reyna Reyna from KSBJ On the Street?

Every day this week, they’ll be giving you clues as to where they’ll be in Houston and the surrounding area. And each day, they’ll show up to the location with prizes, games and fun.

    Here’s How it Works
Just keep listening throughout the day for Johnny B and Reyna Reyna to give you clues as to where they are located around the city. Then come out to where they are to say “hi.” We’d love to meet you!

You can also follow along with the clues on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

    Mother’s Day

So give your father and mother joy! May she who gave you birth be happy. –Proverbs 23:25

Moms are a priceless gift. We love them dearly and thank God for them. This Mother’s Day, consider KSBJ your big Mother’s Day card for your Mom. Give her a shout out to tell the world why she’s so important to you!

Take time to celebrate Moms. Share a story. Tell a tale. Do a “Mom-ism” or a lesson you learned from her. You can also call in and complete the sentence, “my mom is special because…,” to share on the air why your mom means so much to you! The number to dial is (832) 644-KSBJ or (832) 644-5725.

Thanks for celebrating Mom with us!

    Sharathon 2014

    Do Something - Sharathon 2014

David & Goliath – First Samuel 17 – You know the story. A small shepherd boy faces a giant nobody else would fight. David defeats Goliath, not with a sword in his hand, but with a sling and a stone.

This giant had been tormenting the Israelites for 40 days. Every day, the Israelites wondered who would fight for them, but nobody (even Saul, their King) would volunteer. But David, the shepherd boy, was willing to stand up and DO SOMETHING.

There are giants tormenting us every day – sickness, despair, unemployment, broken relationships, infidelity, and unforgiveness!

If you’re facing a Giant – you’re not alone. Thousands of us every day feel like we’re going up against insurmountable odds. The good news is that, like David, we’ve got a sling and a stone, and a God who will fight the battle for us.

Think of this radio station as your sling and think of the music, and the prayers, and the scripture verses found on KSBJ as the stones that equip you with the mighty weapon you need to fight YOUR GIANT.

There’s an interesting thing in the story of David and Goliath. To anybody looking on, you would have thought David was the underdog. But, if you know the story, God was on David’s side, and the Giant was defeated. Like David, all you need is to DO SOMETHING.

    He Is Risen

    He Is Risen

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” Luke 24:5-7

Easter is a time for us to be reminded what “He Is Risen” means. If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead—it’s game over for Christianity, (the Apostle Paul actually says in that case, our faith is “worthless”—1 Cor 15:17) –BUT if it’s true—it means that it’s game-on for a new life, that God hears your prayers, that you can be forgiven, that you can never out-sin God’s forgiveness, it means you can break a habit, you can have a clear conscience and freedom. It means God loves you, and is offering you a new life! Christ overcame death on the cross for your sins and through Him you can experience God’s love, forgiveness, and plan for your life.

If you’ve seen our He Is Risen billboards and you want to know more about the cross, visit: http://www.eastercross.org/. You can pick up an Easter Cross for your yard at the KSBJ On the Street events below:

    Love That Sticks

    Week 1

It’s almost that time of year again when we blanket the city with God’s love and encouragement. Leading up to Valentine’s Day, we are on a mission to find the experts on Love That Sticks—the longest married couple in Houston! We want to know who they are and what their secret is. Please complete the form below to share their love story.

Stay tuned as we continue to focus on unconditional love—devoted, faithful—Love That Sticks!

    Make a Difference

The clock is ticking down to the end of the year, but you can still make a difference in 2013!

Your gift will help keep the songs you love playing on KSBJ and NGEN, touch even more people with God’s love online and continue outreach that benefits our entire community.

The goal is to transform our city one life, one prayer at a time—and because we’re listener supported, we can’t do it without you.

Thanks for responding before midnight December 31st!

    Share God’s Love

Read how YOU are transforming lives in our city!

On that first Christmas more than 2,000 years ago, God gave all of us a life-transforming Christmas gift—His Son, Jesus Christ.

Today, with your support for KSBJ and NGEN, you can help share Jesus with more than 700,000 people through the holiday season and beyond!

Your gift will bless someone like Nicole . . .

Not long ago, Nicole wrote to tell us how her life fell apart after her parents’ divorce. She shared about the abusive relationship that trapped her, and then she talked about her pregnancy at age 16. “I was told that my baby would be better off adopted and that I could never be a good mom,” she said. “These words played in my head over and over.”

Nicole discovered KSBJ soon after her daughter’s birth. In the years that followed, it remained her only real link to God. Eventually, Nicole developed the strength to leave that harmful relationship, and she began building a new life.

As part of her new life, Nicole decided to pursue a career in nursing:

“I was accepted into nursing school. The first few weeks, I just knew I wouldn’t make it. [Then] the song “Strong Enough” by Matthew West came on KSBJ, and I cried all the way home. I knew this was God telling me that I could do it and that He was with me.”

“Every time I had a bad day or felt overwhelmed, that song just happened to play. Yesterday after I finished my last nursing exam and became a graduate nurse, I got into my car and “Strong Enough” was playing. I knew that was my heavenly Father’s sign to me. I am thankful to KSBJ for speaking God’s Word every day!

KSBJ and NGEN are listener supported, so your tax-deductible, year-end gift today will have a direct impact on the ministry right now and on our 2014 planning. Will you give the gift of God’s love to more people like Nicole?

    Pray for the Philippines

    Pray for the Philippines

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Cor 1:3-4

KSBJ family, in 2 Cor 1:3-4, God promises comfort for us so that we can comfort others, and at this time, collective prayers for the families affected by the tragedy in the Philippines is of most importance. Please also pray for our military troops who have been deployed, the first responders currently on the ground and emergency response organizations who are mobilizing recovery and first aid efforts.

    How you can Help?

    1) Prayer

    2) Prayerfully consider donating to an organization who is mobilizing emergency aid

    ECFA certified Response Organizations:

    WORLD VISION

World Vision is raising funds and launching an emergency response to help survivors of Typhoon Haiyan—possibly the strongest storm in recorded history—after it slammed the Philippines. An estimated 4 million people are affected. World Vision is rushing to meet the most urgent needs of food, clean water, and emergency shelter for 400,000 people.

    COMPASSION

Compassion has created the Disaster Relief and Stability Fund to support the relief efforts in the Philippines. This fund will provide relief, recovery, and rehabilitation that is vital to restore families affected by this massive storm.

    SAMARITAN’S PURSE

Samaritan’s Purse supports local ministry partners in the region as they provide physical help to suffering people in Jesus’ Name. We are currently bringing desperately needed relief and comfort to families affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan through Samaritan’s Purse Philippines Emergency Relief.

    CONVOY OF HOPE

Convoy of Hope‘s Global Disaster Response Team has shipping containers full of food and supplies on the way to the Philippines. The organization is preparing more supplies to be sent like canned goods, hygiene kits and water filtration units. You can visit Convoy of Hope’s website to donate funds to their efforts or call 1-417-823-8998.

    My Hope America

    My Hope America

The best thing you can ever do for somebody, is to tell them about Jesus. And Billy Graham’s been doing that his whole life. He’s 95 now, and he has one more message that he wants to share with all of us, on November 9th during the television special airing on KPRC Channel 2 at 6:30PM.

And if Saturday doesn’t work for you, you can listen to Billy Graham right here on KSBJ during Sunday Night Live at 7PM on Sunday, November 10th! Sunday Night Live will also feature guests that evening to discuss the salvation message of My Hope America.

KSBJ wants to encourage you to share the hope of Jesus with your friends and neighbors by inviting them to watch or listen to Billy Graham with YOU! Whether you invite them to a meal or dessert at your home or meet up at church or your favorite hang out, this program is a simple way to connect with others and bring light to a world bombarded with negativity. The video below is a great sneak peak of this weekend’s program. We can’t wait to hear what you think!

    Back to School Prayers

    Back to School Prayers

We have finished Operation Backpack, where we helped meet the needs of about 40,000 children in our area! Together, we equipped them with the physical needs for going back to school, now it’s time to help equip them with the spiritual needs. So, here at KSBJ “We’ve Got Your Back” with back-to-school prayers.

Whether they are starting school for the first time this year, or about to start college, we want the best for our children. Not only do we want to pray for students, but we want to cover parents and teachers in prayer as well during the start of this school year.

KSBJ wants to take time to cover the many areas that need prayer for going back to school and prepare students with the best way we know how – prayer.

If you would like to share with us the name of a school, administrator, bus driver, teacher, or student, join us on our Facebook page so that we can all pray for one another! If you want to be really creative, you can even post a picture to our Facebook page like this:

“13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.” – Mark 10:13 - 16

      Operation Backpack

Make 1, Take 1, Summer of Fun!

Summer is not over yet, so there’s still time to take part in blessing another child for the new school year. As you gather school supplies for your child…MAKE up some extras for a child in need and TAKE it to a drop off location for Operation Backpack, sponsored by ABC 13!

Any school supplies will help – it could be a pack of pencils all the way up to a fully stocked backpack! You can even personalize your donation by writing a Bible verse or encouraging note to the child.

Drop off locations include: Houston area YMCA’s, HEB & Shoe Carnival locations, as well as numerous other businesses and churches. Find the closest location to you by clicking here! Your donations can be taken now through August 11th.

Help us meet our goal of 55,000 brand new backpacks and school supplies to benefit children in our community. Your investment provides these children the opportunity to start school with the resources to be successful!

During Operation Backpack, KSBJ on the Street will be out and about at different collection sites. So if you’re in the area come by and say hi and be a part of this opportunity to impact lives!

      • August 9th – ABC 13 KTRK TV Studios w/ the Morning Show from 6 – 10a
      • All events are posted HERE

For a list of all the needed supplies, as well as dropoff locations, click here.

      Pray

      Pray for Oklahoma

At KSBJ, we’re praying for everyone that has been impacted by the tornadoes in Oklahoma. We know that God listens to those who cry out to Him, and we believe that prayer gives hope!

      How should I pray?

      PRAY:

      • For those who lost loved ones – that they don’t also lose hope (Hebrews 6:19)

      • For local churches who are reaching out to their immediate community (Matthew 25:34-36)

      • For those who don’t know Christ to make Him Lord and Savior of their lives in the midst of tragedy (Romans 10:13)

      • For local believers to cling to Christ in the midst of uncertainty – that He would be glorified and their faith would be strengthened (James 1:2-4)

      • For God to be glorified in this situation and for His strength and power to be displayed - that when temporary things are shaken, eternal things would be left standing (Hebrews 12:28-29, Exodus 9:13-16, Psalm 46:10)

      • To thank God in advance for accomplishing His purposes through times of suffering in our lives (Romans 8:28, Romans 8:18)

      How can I help?

      Easter in an Eggshell

      Easter in an Eggshell

Let’s face it. Easter is about breakage. It starts with a broken world with broken people. Into it came a man, Jesus, and this world ultimately broke Him too.

But He didn’t stay that way. He overcame death, the ultimate broken condition, and because of that, He shows us the way to overcome everything in life that would want to break us. So, allow us to “break open,” the truth about Jesus and Easter. Listen this week for Author and Speaker Max Lucado, as he gives us insights into Easter. And always remember that prayer, thankfulness, and the ultimate sacrifice through Jesus is much sweeter than any basket of chocolate eggs!

Also, text the word EASTER to 51555 to follow along with us each day as we remember the events of Holy Week. Be sure and check out the great timeline below if you would like more information!

      Refresh & Recharge

There are two words that usually cause a reaction: Swim. Suit.

Reclaiming cluttered spaces…and the list goes on! So, we are helping to remind you that sometimes you have to stop and take a minute to refresh & recharge!

Join us as we go into spring reinvigorated with some great tips from Lysa TerKeurst, President of Proverbs 31 Ministries. Listen all day long for ways to be renewed spiritually, mentally, physicially, and in your relationships. Also, we’ll reward you with some great retreat-type getaways!

So, if you are feeling a little overwhelmed, then Refresh & Recharge with us. We’ll help you not regret swimsuit season, and rejoice over all the blessings in your life!
