KSBJ President Featured Guest Speaker at Christian Media Australia Connect 2012 Conference

HOUSTON (July 18, 2012) – Tim McDermott, president and general manager of KSBJ, was a featured guest speaker at the Connect 2012 conference hosted by Christian Media Australia (CMA). Under McDermott’s leadership, KSBJ has become one of the top 5 radio stations in the greater Houston area. Connect 2012 is a Christian media conference held in Australia hosting over 30 international and Australian speakers. The conference was designed with the focus of effective communication and to channel creative drive for church media and marketing leaders by offering direction on media topics including TV, radio, film, church media, social networking, marketing and other related subjects. CMA connects communities of all sizes by using key church and Christian communication leaders.

“Tim’s heart is to share his vast experiences, both good and bad, with other ministries so that God can be glorified through their successes,” says Nikki Sparks, Sr. Director of Creative Services. “It is an honor to serve with a leader who has such a passion for Christ, and who desires to see more lives impacted through Christian radio ministry.”

Recently recognized by Christian Radio Weekly (CRW) as one of the most influential people in Christian music, McDermott influenced many at the CMA Connect 2012 conference as he spoke about topics such as: “Confessions of a leader in transformation,” “Building a great on-air product,” and “Engaging the Culture: The KSBJ Story.” He also shared the secret of how KSBJ’s Sharathon and fundraising efforts have succeeded over the years and how to encourage people to incorporate the gospel into workplaces.

“I was honored that I was asked to speak again at this national conference in Australia. The Aussie broadcasters are doing important work in a culture that is not as Christian as we have in the U.S.,” explained McDermott. “They have a lot of challenges and I was glad for the opportunity to share lessons that we have learned at KSBJ. One Aussie broadcaster told me as I was leaving ‘Thank you for coming. You encouraged us and gave us hope of what our stations can become someday.”
