Hi Listeners! I know that many of you reading this blog are reading because you are cannot hear us on the web. I want to give you an eye-witness account of what has been going on the past few minutes!
I glanced up from my “intern nook” to see flashes of organge dart across the room as Susan O’donnell and Jen Driscoll tried to keep up with the flow of phone calls that flooded phone central as listeners put forth an effort to catapult the totals past that $1 million mark.
Joey K, clad in his purple-ish blue polo shirt manned the programming desk. Jon Hull and Liz Jordan stood by to take over for their shift. The excitement was palatable.
But excitement won’t carry the numbers across the mark. No, the room was immersed in prayer as prayer volunteers invaded the quarters.
Volunteers stood at their posts of 40 phones, itching to take the next pledge that would hopefully propel the total forward. Some volunteers earnestly eyed the multi-colored pom-poms that were placed at each table in the hopes of being able to wave it in air, signaling a gift of $5000 or more.
” I think we can raise $22,000 in two songs,” Jon Hull said. “We just need 22 people to give $1,000.”
Song one played and KSBJ heard from four people who decided to give a $1,000 – $88 a month.
Five more $1000 givers. Tim McDermott gave some encouraging words and song two was started. The song was “How Great is Our God” by Chris Tomlin.
“It’s certainly not over,” Jon Hull said. “I think we are about to see the heavens break loose.”
I turned around to see Liz Jordan’s lips form a perfect “O” on her face as she stared at the computer screen in astonishment.
We made it. Twenty-nine listeners decided to give $1,000, bringing the total to $1,010, 913!!!!!

- 3:30 Totals – bottom number is “I AM More”
Stay tuned for more God-sized goals!
