God in Action

June 25th, 2009

I am sitting in what has been dubbed “Phone Central” of KSBJ for our annual Sharathon event. We are currently in the midst of day two of the three-day fundraiser, and the only thing I keep thinking is “WOW. God is so amazing.”

If anyone has ever doubted God, they should come and sit in on this event. God is moving and moving in big ways!

KSBJ sets two types of goals every year. The first goal is called “Monthly Operations” and goes towards making sure all aspects of the radion station stay afloat throughout the year. The second goal is referred to as “Impact Initiatives,” which goes towards furthering the ministry of the station, including new HD formats, equipment upgrades and promotions.

I have been volunteering at KSBJ during Sharathon since I was 15-years-old. Every year, God has taken our goals and said, “I can do more.” This year is no exception.

God is taking the staff’s expectations and smashing them. For example, KSBJ met the Monthly Operations Goal of $328,000 at 12 p.m. today – a feat that has never happened. When the finish line for that particular goal was crossed, the staff stood in awe of God’s work.

But God’s plans are still bigger. It is 4:45 on day two, and we are steaming will full force towards our Impact Initiatives goal of $855,000. We are almost crossed over the $700,000 mark! That’ll teach me to put God in a box!

Keep checking back for updates! And give to KSBJ! Call 1.800.893.5725 or go on-line to ksbj.org/impact or text KSBJ or KSBJ10 to 40579!

Faith as a mustard seed

June 25th, 2009

Wow – it’s been a busy, but fantastic day!  Just spoke to Liz Jordan and she is pumped about hearing stories of listeners taking a step of faith… we’ve received several calls today from listeners without jobs who decided to make a donation because they trust that God is going to provide for their finances.  Whew!  That IS a step of faith and a huge sacrifice.  It’s very humbling to hear and it makes me question, “do I have that kind of faith?”  I don’t know that I do, but after hearing stories of God’s provision, how I could I not trust God like that?  The Bible says that if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Lord, help us to have faith as a mustard seed and please honor and bless those who have made tremendous sacrifices today.

God Bless,

Jen Marshall

Prayer & Praise

June 25th, 2009

I don’t know if you heard on-air, but we had a call from a listener several minutes ago who was suicidal and we had to get our Volunteer Coordinator, Charlotte, to talk to them.  Charlotte shared God’s word with them and by the end of the conversation, the listener rededicated his life to the Lord!  Please be praying for him to be encouraged and for a job to open up for him.

Our prayer volunteers are here to pray for you!  Please call us at 281-446-5725 if you need prayer or have a praise to share.

Woo-hoo! We met our Monthly Operations goal!

June 25th, 2009

Praise God!!  We met our monthly operations goal at 12:00pm on Thursday, June 25, 2009.  We never made it this fast in 27 years!  We are so excited and blessed.  Thank you for your generosity.  Stay tuned with us as we try to meet our impact initiatives budget.  God Bless You!

A dollar a day for KSBJ!

June 25th, 2009

Hey peeps!!!  This is Jen – I’m hanging out for a bit w/ Joey & Tim and having so much fun!  Our theme this hour is “A dollar a day for KSBJ.”  Ya think about a dollar a day – it could be the $ you usually spend at Starbucks, or buying a snack from the vending machine at work, or on bottled water.  What about taking that money and using it to help others out by supporting KSBJ?  Think ’bout it – we’d love to hear from ya at 1-800-893-5725 (KSBJ)!!!!

XOXO,

Jen Driskill

My 10th Sharathon.

June 25th, 2009

So this is my 10th sharathon, and I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening this year at Sharathon.

It’s not even noon on Thursday, and we’re almost at our Monthly Goal of $328,000!

In an economy that the world says is in a  ”down turn”, we’re reaching our goal faster than I’ve ever seen.

I’m hearing Tim saying we’re less than $5,000 away!  Wow!

I’m super excited about when God is doing, and about to do.

What does He have in store for tomorrow?!

We’re almost at our Monthly goal!

June 25th, 2009

Hello KSBJ listeners!

I just wanted to give you all a quick update on the happenings at the station. So far, we have seen God move in amazing ways as we are nearing our Monthly Operations goal of $328,000. We just crossed over the $320,000 mark, which means that we are a little less than $8,000 away from our ultimate monthly goal!

Stay tuned for more exciting news and please keep us in your prayers.

Hosting Messy Jobs…

June 25th, 2009

Hey this is Jen Marshall here, host of Sharathon’s Messy Jobs.  I’ve been traveling behind the scenes assisting and learning the jobs of KSBJ staff during Sharathon and I gotta tell you, I’m so much more exhausted than I would have expected and we’re not even hitting all of the jobs that go on.  It’s been a lot of fun finding out what many of the staff do – it truly is a team effort putting all of this together.

I gotta tell you though, when I was first asked to be the host of this show I was excited, but  thoughts ran through my head like are they sure they want me to host this show?  Many names came to mind of people who would do a much better job than me.  You see, by nature I’m a really shy and quiet person.  It is definitely outside my comfort zone to just go up to a person and start a conversation let alone host a show!  I got to thinking though… If God has brought this opportunity to pass, then His grace and strength are going to enable me get it done.  I’m very well aware of my weaknesses, but what I really need to be reminded of is who I am in Christ because in Christ I can do anything.

I wonder how many others need to be reminded of that today.  Do you feel weak and incapable?  Then you need to remember who you are and whose you are!  So when negative thoughts pop into your head knocking you down to the ground, tell yourself that you are wonderfully made and that whatever God has entrusted you to do, He will give you the grace and strength to get it done.
