Tonight we realized the need for a single parent/single family ministry in our churches. If you would like to learn more about how to begin a single family ministry in your church or expand your current ministry, Holly and Steve Crane are eager to speak with you.
Contact Holly and Steve at Houston’s First Baptist Church.

I am a single mother with one child and I wish I had the opportunity to tune into this show. While I do listen on most Sunday’s I missed this one. There is not single parent ministry on my side of town (I live in the Spring/Willowbrook Mall area) I have searched and I do not have a car at the moment that can take me to the other side of Houston so I have to work within my area. I like others do not feel as comfortable in the traditional “family” setting but I would like for my son to be around other children within a church setting and have more friends outside of just school. If anyone is aware of a single parent group in my area please post! Thank you and God Bless you!
Thanks for the comment, Kristi. If anyone knows of a church who has a single parents group in the Cypress area, please let Kristi know.
Kristi, I’m going to forward this to Holly Crain, Single Parents Director of Houston First Baptist Church. She may have some information for you.
I am also a single mom with three boys. I have been looking for a church with a single parent group. I do not feel comfortable with the traditional singles group that many churches offer, as I believe that once you have been married and have kids you are in a different place than a single person who had never been married. Does anybody know of a church who has a group for us single parents out in the Cypress area Thanks
I attend Houston First Baptist Church and our single parent class, Chairos, which Holly and Steve are a part, has been a gift. Even though each of our focus is our own personal relationship with Christ, having the support and building relationships with other men and women who love the Lord and are walking similar walk is immeasurable. We pray together and play together. Most all of our activities are focused around family and our children. We are blessed to have the support of a youth singles class that attends many of our events and helps with the children. It’s a great opportunity for our kids to witness how young men and women make the choice to be there with us, and help us, rather than making choices that many young people do these days. We have a strong goals toward missions and as a class have mission opportunities that our entire families can participate. If you don’t have a program like this at your church, I recommend you take a page from this book and make it happen. Or just come and see us. We’d love to have you.
September,
Although I am not aware of what is going on the Clear Lake area, I do know that there is a great need. As Melinda expressed on the air Sunday night, the statistics are staggering. I would encourage you to visit with your singles minister. Steve and I would love the opportunity to visit with you and your minister, please feel free to pass our information along.
We didn’t get a chance to talk about it on Sunday night but family camps are a great way to get away with your children in a fun and safe environment. Not only is it a great way to slow down and bond with your child/children but you come away refreshed also. Our group is going to have a single parent family camp around September and it is open to all single parent families. Last year we played so hard and laughed till our sides hurt…but we also got serious out hearing from God. And that applied to both the parent and child. The boys built forts and one of our young singles dressed up like Samson…you should have seen the boys faces as they heard from Bible stories from “Samson”!
Our group also attends Pinecove in Tyler for a single parent family camp. They are talking about having one in Columbus this year (December/2010).
Again, I would encourage you to begin dialogue with your minister and pray for the single parents in your area and pray for people to come along side you.
Know that we will be praying for you September and keep us posted!
If anyone has information about a Single Parent Ministry in the Clear Lake area, please post it here. September is looking for a good singles ministry. Thank you!
I’m a single mom of boys ages 3 & 6. I moved out here from Caliornia on a promise and a prayer. Unfortunatley the promise was broken. I work for a Baptist church in the Clear Lake Area but to my knowledge we only offer a single parent/blended family Bible study class on Sunday mornings which I can not attend because I serve in the CHildren’s area at that hour. Is there anything in the CL area that has the same/simialr program as ya’ll?
