What a privilege it is for us, as followers of Jesus, to be like Jesus, His hands and feet in a world that’s hurting.
There are opportunities in every neighborhood on planet Earth for us to get alongside people, friends, neighbors, colleagues who are going through tough times and listen to them. Let them talk about the suffering they’re going through. Empathize with them and let them know there is hope through Jesus.
You can be Jesus to them by:
– Being authentic in your faith
– Listening to them
– Asking more questions than giving answers
– Being a friend in the midst of the turbulences of life
Ultimately that person’s going to wonder — What is motivating my friend to do this?
And that is when the spiritual conversation is likely to come up because ultimately what’s going to heal that person spiritually and heal them in the next life forever is a relationship they need with God.
