My dad was a kind of a crazy person. He ran a church camp when we were growing up and he was the favorite of all the kids because he did this wild stuff.
He did an Indiana Jones themed bonfire thing where he’s Indiana Jones and this flaming arrow comes down this hill going towards a lake and big bonfire at the bottom. And he grabs the grail off of the bonfire right before the fire explodes. And this was back before you could sue people, like think back to the sweet times of summer camp.
But we learned a lot from that. Just how to have fun, dream big and how much story is a part of our life.
He was such a good storyteller; later became a preacher and I think that’s something I do with my boys. I guess that’s why I spend most of my time telling them stories and some about my dad, of course.
