Distribution drives on Friday, July 12

  • The Astros Foundation and Cheniere Energy will be at Minute Maid Park in front of Union Station (501 Crawford St.). They will give out a 16 lb. bag of ice, a case of water, Chick-fil-A entrees, fruit from the Houston Food Bank and hurricane relief items from the Red Cross (July 12 only, 8 a.m.-until gone). Orbit will make an appearance as well!
  • Houston Housing Authority supply drive is a free community resource drive and a partnership offering utility bill relief. HHA aims to serve at least 1,000 Houston families from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the HHA central office, 2640 Fountain View Drive, 77057.
  • Catholic Charities in Galveston, food bags will be distributed at the Beacon of Hope Center at 4700 Broadway, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
  • Precinct 4 handing out food, water and ice from 8 a.m.-Noon. It will be held at the Bayland Community Center at 6400 Bissonnet St. 
  • Baytown food distribution with the City of Baytown, the Houston Food Bank and Walmart will provide essential needs to residents (Baytown Community Center at 2407 Market Street), including hot meals, non-perishable food, snacks, water and ice from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. (while supplies last)
  • The Mamie George Community Center at 1111 Collins Road in Richmond will be open on  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to serve as a cooling center for those seeking respite from the heat https://catholiccharities.org/disaster/.
  • KHOU 11 is partnering with the American Red Cross and are hosting a telethon. American Red Cross volunteers will be on hand in the KHOU 11 studios to take your calls. Your donation will help hundreds of thousands of people across the Greater Houston area.

Catholic Charities on Saturday, July 13

  1. Counselors will be on hand to meet with anyone experiencing extreme trauma as a result of the hurricane, and prayer resources will be available upon request.
  2. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will provide food, water, and cleaning supplies to individuals and families as they recover from Hurricane Beryl. A drive-thru distribution will occur on Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the agency’s headquarters at 2900 Louisiana Street in Houston.
  3. Limited financial assistance will be available starting next week by applying online. Check Catholic Charities’ social media pages and website for further details.

Bread of Life

Bread of Life in downtown Houston will hold another drive-thru distribution event on Saturday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to noon in coordination with its third annual All-In Back-to-School Event at St. John’s United Methodist Church at 2019 Crawford St. Items are provided on a first-come basis. 

Donations needed:

  • Non-perishable food items like canned, boxed and bagged goods
  • Water 
  • Hygiene items like toothbrushes, soap, wipes, sanitizer,
  • Disaster relief items like flashlights, first aid kits
  • School supplies like notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons, glue and backpacks.

The Salvation Army Mobile Kitchens:

The Salvation Army is bringing mobile kitchens to Houston to distribute food & water. There are four mobile kitchens within the Houston city limits, as well as additional units deployed in Brazoria, Matagorda, and Wharton counties.
