Rooted

Have you ever heard the phrase “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could?” KSBJ wants listeners to feel that. During March we want to convey the feeling of being “rooted” in Texas. It’s the feeling of Texas Pride, and specifically being a Houstonian.

If you were to think of what it means to be “rooted” in Texas, maybe think of Galatians 5:13. It could be a great “Texan” verse: “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

Being rooted in Texas culture means the following:

  • you love freedom.
  • you love your fellow man.
  • you serve others.
  • you do the right thing.
  • you work hard.
  • you’re patriotic.
  • you’re self-sufficient, but you know God is in control.

If you’ve ever been to the rodeo at NRG Stadium just remember the opening ceremonies they have each evening. That’s the feeling we’re going for. (You should arrive early and go check it out if you’ve never seen it!)

You’d see that being rooted in Texas culture means being united. The rodeo shows this: There are shows for the Vida Unida audience, and for the first time KSBJ artist for KING & COUNTRY will be there! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a perfect example of how Houston is the most Diverse City in the Country. Everyone who has “roots” from another place can display them in a welcoming manner at the rodeo. And during the time you’re there, you can see what it means to have roots here.

So Celebrate our Texas roots. Texas is welcoming enough to let us all have roots here, even if we weren’t born here but got here as fast as we could!

KSBJ is an Official Community Sponsor of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
