About the Midday Show

Jen hosts the Midday Show on KSBJ and has a blast doing it – it truly is her dream job! She grew up listening to Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 and was excited every Sunday afternoon to keep track of the top songs in a little journal. She never imagined she’d have the chance to be playing the top songs in Christian radio! She also loves praying with you and hearing your stories, all while encouraging you with uplifting music. When she’s not on-air, you can catch her watching sports, running, reading, enjoying live music, spoiling her two Pugs, Daisy and Ike, volunteering at her church and teaching music lessons. And she’s forever trying to remember the lyrics to the songs on KSBJ so she can sing along with them just like you do when you’re cruising the Houston freeways. Her favorite verse is Psalm 19:14, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

KSBJ Midday Show

For the last week I haven't felt like doing much of anything. This popped up in my inbox from Propel Women & the timing was perfect. Hope it helps you too <3

So many of us truly feel overwhelmed right now. It’s easy to let the challenges of our present circumstances steal our peace and make us feel like we’re being crushed.

Yet, we can live our lives from a place of peace in Christ! If you’re struggling with feeling overwhelmed, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Don’t be ashamed of how you’re feeling. Jesus already told us that we will have trouble in this world (John 16:33). We live in a fallen world after all, and pain and stress come with the territory.

Pay attention to the symptoms, but don’t ignore the root cause. While it’s easy to focus on our outward coping behaviors (such as binging on Netflix or snapping at our loved ones), we also need to acknowledge that something has happened in our heart. Being overwhelmed is an inside-out issue! To realign your heart with God’s heart, stay in his Word, listen to worship music, and invite your Christian friends and community to come around you.

Remember the power of God’s presence. God is with you right at this moment! He will give you the grace and strength you need to go through whatever you’re facing, and come out on the other side.

Ask God for a shift in perspective. He will be faithful to alter your perspective from feeling defenseless against the things that overwhelm you to being victorious over them in Jesus Christ. This isn’t about being in denial about your situation, but rather, seeing it, acknowledging it, and trusting God to get you through it.

Remember, God will take all of the broken, painful parts of your situation and work them together for your good and his glory. With God, you will rise above the pain of your past, your fear, and your doubt.
