As the body of Christ, diversity is desperately important for us to understand. If we don’t understand diversity, the devil will exploit those divisions.

All the way through the New Testament Paul is writing about ethnic conflict.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Paul keeps saying there’s no Jew, Greek, Gentile or woman because the people were acting like there were Jews, Greeks, Gentiles, men and women. They were making those divisions, their diversity, their primary identity and they let it divide them.

Paul doesn’t tell them to ignore the fact that they are a Greek or a Jew or a woman. He doesn’t tell them to get rid of diversity, make it seem like nobody has any color or anything like that. He says, “you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Revelation 7:9
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands…

In Revelation, we see in John’s vision every nation, tribe, language and tongue. John has seen something in their physical appearance that denotes that they are from every nation, tribe, language and tongue.

Diversity was God’s idea from the beginning. If we have these cultural conversations, we can understand diversity and not let the devil exploit it.
